That is a modded PC RE4.

Anything who thinks RE4 is better than RE5 must be terrible at action games to not realise how badly designed RE4 was.

Right and you are also going to tell me that Bomberman: Act Zero was better than any of the other Bomberman games and anyone who doesn't realize it must be incapable of the easiest brain activities know to man.

I didn't ask you for half-hearted almost-reasons about RE4, I asked you to tell me more about my shortcomings. I gave you one job, KylieDog, and you couldn't do it.

(yes, you are one of those people I would never listen to - and if I'm bad at action games then you must be some kind of juggernaut)

Clearly your balance judgement is a shortcoming, I thought my post would have made this obvious.  Despite my love of the RE series I am still very objective in my views, it has enough games I do not like at all for various reasons and if I wasn't really objectie I would never have loved RE5 as much as I do, I played that expecting it to get a reaction from me even worse than RE4.

Hoo boy

When your argument comes down to "listen to me, I'm an expert" there is no more legitimate reason to just tune you out.

Come back when your argument is an actual argument and not just an appeal to your own authority.

(I fancy myself having a pretty good sense of balance - enough that I delight in Challenge 6 in Vanquish and abhorr ME2's Arrival DLC because of just those issues - but that is neither here nor there)

Yea it is best not to listen to Mr. KylieDog.  Has to be one of the most depressing people I've ever met haha.  But I'm sure once he's done bathing in the terrible story and game that was RE5 he'll share with us his secrets on objectivity that have phased even the brightest of humans over the past millennia.

I didn't play RE4 for more than two hours because it was so boring. Same with Resis 5, three hours there maybe. Same with Dead Space. Is there something wrong with me?

Nope nothing wrong with that.  They all do start off relatively slow.  Get better as they go along though.  No one is expected to like everything and hate everything accordingly to some objective standard.  Though I'm sure someone in this thread would have us believe otherwise haha.

[FADE IN on SCENE: hospital room, small and cramped, with a single bed and a lone occupant, the curmudgeonly SLIMEBEAST. The patient is visibly nervous]

SB: Where the Hell is that doctor?

[Enter the doctor: DR. KHUUTRA, all authority and bright smiles barely hiding what may be malice]

DK: Sorry I'm late, Mr. Slimebeast. Are you ready to look at your test results?

SB: Yes! Tell me what's the matter with me!

[DR. KHUUTRA chuckles, patting SLIMEBEAST on the hand]

DK: Now now, Mr. Slimebeast, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Why don't you tell me, one more time, just what your symptoms are. [DK flips through the notes on a clipboard as he's talking]

SB: Well, I thought Resident Evil 4 was boring as Hell!

DK: Even the first fight in the village?

SB: Yes! That stupid first fight in the village!

[DK scribbles notes on the clipboard]

SB: I only got a couple of hours in before I stopped. RE5 wasn't much better, but I got about an hour further in!

DK: Why did you get an hour further in to that one?

SB: Because it was in HD!

DK: Are you sure it's not because you can shoot.... black people?

SB: What? No! There are Asian zombies, too.

DK: Mr. Slimebeast, my wife is Taiwanese.

SB: Is she a zombie?

[there is a BEAT of silence]

DK: Let's get back to your symptoms.

SB: Well, I thought Dead Space was boring too!

DK: I meant how much you seem to like shooting minorities.

SB: But I hated Resident Evil 5!

DK: Oh. Right. Okay then, I guess you're not racist...

[more scribbling, and SLIMEBEAST looks nervously out the window]

SB: Are there any other doctors?

DK: No. I am the only doctor.

SB: Oh. Okay. Well, there's nothing else to tell! Those are all of my symptoms! What's the matter with me, doc?

[DR. KHUUTRA sighs audibly as he flips through the report]

DK: Mr. Slimebeast, it seems you have a severe case of the lameness.

SB: What? No! Is it curable?

DK: No, sir. I mean, maybe - if you managed to enjoy Vanquish or the Dead Space 2 demo - but in 99% of all cases, the lameness is terminal.

[another BEAT of silence]

SB: Your bedside manner is really deplorable.

[DR. KHUUTRA smiles knowingly and nods in agreement]

[IRIS OUT on DK's face]

Now RE5 definitely does and maybe Dead Space does, but RE4 kicks you in the nuts right off the bat and never stops. The first battle in the village is one of the best sequences in any video game ever. RE4 may be many things, but slow to start is not one.

Well relatively slow haha.  It does have that pretty epic battle in the beginning.  Nice little hold out haha.

I just hope they update the controls so their more fluid - as in aiming with the right analogue stick and inverted aiming on both axies like RE5 and Dead Space.

imo - RE4 was one of the best games ever when it came out - looking foward to playing it again in HD.

How is aiming with the right analogue stick and having it inverted a GOOD thing!?

Aiming with the right stick would be awkward. You are standing still and therefore you already have your thumb on the left analogue stick ready to aim. The right side of your hand is already occupied with the aiming trigger and X or Square.

Lastly, inverted aiming as a whole is just retarded, why would you want the controller to do the opposite of what you tell it to?

EDIT: This is the PC version modded.

when i say fluid controls i also mean aiming and shooting with the L1 and R1 shoulder buttons - so you move with the left analogue stick. you press L1 and Leon aims his gun, you use the right analogue stick to free aim and you press R1 to fire.

i think all games with guns now incorporate those controls. so when i say that i'm specifically reffering to Dead Space and RE5 controls - which i feel are much more fluid for using guns.

some people prefer using both X and Y axis inverted.

i think with FPS its less common, but with TPS the camera is like a tripod behind the person - so i use the controls inverted because it comes more naturally to me. Dead Space and RE5 give you the option of this. so do many third person games.

Oh, that makes sense now. I thought you had gone crazy, I would have needed to have grown a 2nd thumb.

Anyway, original RE4 controls are enough for me, I changed the RE5 controls so they worked like RE4 when I played it.

Thats fair enough man, i've just become so used to that type of control maping, its weird for me to use it the RE4 way.

its going to be weird aiming at enemies heads as well, because i've been playing Dead Space 2, lol.
