Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How do YOU want the Wii 2 to be like

WARNING THIS IS LONG!! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ  EVERY BIT OF IT, SCROLL AND READ THE HEADERS ON THE SIDE TO SEE WHAT YOU WANT TO READ!!!! ALSO, THIS IS NOT A PREDICTION!!!

This is the skinny on how I would like the Wii 2 (or whatever they call it) to be like from top to bottom.

Post how you would like the Wii 2 to be like below.

                                                         MISC.

Name-- Maybe Wiivolution, or Super Wii. I doubt they will call it "Wii 2"

Branding-- I want them to see it branded like the PS2. A gaming machine at heart, but on the outside, the center of home entertainmnet.

Design-- I would like for them to make it simmilar to the original Wii, but as big as maybe the N64, so it can have more room for extra RAM, better specs etc. (But it would retain the basic design.)

Appeal-- I want the Wii 2 to appeal to core and casual gamers 'nuff said

                                                       HARDWARE

CPU-- Option 1---The Wii 2 would be fine running a modified version of IBM's Power7 CPU with 6 cores running at 3.5 GHz each. This would give the Wii 2 a sizable amount of power, while still being cost friendly (by that time, the Power7 would be a little cheaper.

Option 2---Another option for the Wii 2's CPU would be AMD's Phenom II. 6 Cores that are clocked at around 3 GHz. This will give the Wii 2 power just above the PS3 (I think), and like I said above, it wll be cost friendly, etc.

All Options will come with--a backup Broadway processor for Wii/GC compatibility

GPU--ATI's Radeon HD with an extra Hollywood chip for Wii/GC compatibility, etc

RAM-- Anywhere from 3 to 5 GB of RAM. Ok lets get realistic, the PS3 has 512 MB of RAM, and a lot of smartphones cme with even more than that, so 1.5-2 GB should do.

I/O-- 4 USB 2.0 ports, 1 proprietary port on the top for a GC controller/memory card add on acessory. 1 HDMI port,  1 Ethernet port, and one SD(XC) card slot.

Hard Drive- About 160 Gb will do.

Wireless Connectivity-- Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 a/b/g/n, Infrared (for the 3DS), and well that's it

Controller-- A Kinect-like camera that senses full body movement, and puts the movements on the TV screen. The revised Wiimote will incluse 3D gyros and would be as accurate as Move and it's movements would be sensed by the camera. It would also come bundled with the original Wii vitality sensor.

Optical Media-- I would like the Wii 2 to use a modified blu-ray disc to play Blu-Ray movies and avoid licensing fees to the DVD forum. It will play BD, DVD, CD, Wii Disc, GC Disc, and the new Wii 2 format that I just mentioned.

HD?- Duh!!

I think there may be stuff I missed, if I missed anything, post below.

                                                           ONLINE

Wii Shop--The Wii Shop would be renamed to the Nintendo eShop, and marge the 3DS accounts into one master account (like the PSN). Transfers from the Origional Wii would be made via SD card, and there is a 3 (insert your currency here) fee and a limit of 4 times the game can be transfered. It will also carry apps like the Mac App store

VC and Wii2Ware-- I want VC to expand to include the following systems: GameCube, Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, Wii, Atari Jaguar, 3DO, 32X, and select PC games who's publishers are defunct. Wii2Ware would get a MAJOR overhaul and shovelware will not be permitted (Hey I can dream!).

Nintendo Wi-fi Connection- The Nintendo WFC would be overhauled and friend codes would be no more. If the person wants to generate a random friend code for themselves, they can, but they will NOT come out of the box. There will be a new gamertag system, (but it will be called Nintendo ID).

Trophies-Trophies (Emblems) will come with every game. This time, therre will be an actual reward from them. For every 50 trophies you get, a reward of 1 (insert currency here) in eShop credit will be rewarded.

Channels from the origional Wii- will remain

                                                            GAMES!!!!!

1st party- Nintendo would hhave a 1st Party F-Zero game at launch that supports online, trophies (emblems) and has kick-ass graphics thanks to whatever GPU I said.

Other than that, it will have the 3RD party support of the PS3 360 NGP, so that would be a lot of games.

                                                          PRICE

Ok with the specs I had in that thing, lets not go there......... (cough....599 US Dollars...cough)

So after all that, how would YOU like the Wii 2 to be like? And one last thing, can you give me a realistic price point?

I'm making the PS4, NextBox,and Dreamcast 2 versions of this so please don't make them.

Nice setup, but I think you should remove all the GC compatibility. Nintendo only goes one gen back. GC would then be added to VC.

So for me I'd see:

a quad to six core CPU
high end... dual core GPU.. stick with similar base as Wii's to allow backwards compatibility.
1G to 2G RAM
16 to 32GB flash storage. (expandable SD card again)
2 to 4 USB ports
Wireless N
Proprietary HD media.. similar in capacity as Bluray, but no video playback... like Wii is currently to DVD.
Fully backwards compatible with Wii.
Can copy over all channels/VC content, once and renders it removed from original Wii.
More enahanced Wiimote/nunchuk with something of a cross breed to Kinect and Move/Wiimote and vitality sensor built into remote.
online continued off of Wii/3DS. More push for media playback and probably unified ID number so no more friend codes... but not as nice as an actual username. Will allow some sort of naming and will have leaderboards and other similar content as Live or PSN.

In the end it'll be more powerful than PS360 at a starting cost of $300.

I'd like it to go back to right now and stop people from assuming Wii is automatically going to be in the name. Have some imagination, people.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I want it to use cartridges. Seriously.

I'm too old for this gaming shit.

The Wii could very well be in the name, it's a well recognised name among the 'casuals'. Moreso than Nintendo is.

Some of them know Wii but don't  neccesarily know it's from Nintendo.

Anyways:

Re: What will the next gen Nintendo console have?

Controls: Better, more compact version of the Wiimote nunchuk, integrated vitality sensor, rumble, better speaker, mic and it will be touch sensitive.

Hardware : Support 1080, games run at 30/60 FPS, at least 1GB ram (2 GB if we're lucky ),at least a quad core proccessor, more powerful than PS3 but not as powerful as PS4/720 ( minimum requirements for next gen ports). backwards compatible with Wii and maybe GameCube.

Online: Very much improved over Wii, somewhere along the line of Live. Most likely free. Online social gaming will likely be a big focus of the console. Some multi-media features (NetFlix and such). Better VC. Universal Firend Codes.

Price: $250-$350.

launch Timing: 1-2 years before PS4/720.  Q4 2012.

Media: HD-DVD/Blu-Ray

Branding: Super Wii Cube Entertainment System 64...who knows

Of course there will be some new kind of gimmick. I also want voice and facial recognition in the console.

For me to buy it, it would need good online comparable to PSN/XBL, HD graphics and power comparable (doesn't have to be better, but in the same class as) the PS4 and Next Xbox, and some good 3rd party support.

Nintendo has to start getting the big 3rd party series releasing games on it such as GTA, CoD, etc. If they can achieve good 3rd party support as well as all the usual good 1st party games there will be no reason for the Wii 2 not to sell hugely.

Oh and some new IP's would be great too. We all love Mario and Zelda but lets get some new stuff too, Miyamoto!

I am aware of that. Doesn't change the fact that The NextBox, Wii2 and PS4 are coming but DreamCast 2 won't.

I just said that to troll any Sega fan(s) that may still be awaiting the Christ-like return of the DreamCast.
