Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is Alan Wake complete without the DLC?

It's perfectly fine without the DLC.

The DLC is worth it. Plus the first DLC comes with the game if you buy it new, so you only need to buy the second one. I would also recommend getting a bigger HD ;)

Alan Wake is my number 2 game this gen. It's more than worth it.

The DLC is reasonably priced to. The first is free. The 2nd only 560 MP.

To be honest you can delete the ones you dont use and download again if you want for free. Once youve paid, you own it. Een if you delete it.

Alan Wake is an experience rather than a game. It's much more like a TV series than game. Season 2 is already in the making. By no means is Alan Wake Season 1 the end. So far we have had 6 Episodes and 2 Special Episodes. I expect Season 2 to be at this years E3 in some form or other.

My first 10/10 game this gen.

Thanks for all your help guys! I've just ordered it online today, it is just so cheap now I cannot resist!

I actually liked the game better without the DLC. I only played the Signal though, maybe the other one is better. Don't get me wrong, the DLC is fine, but the game itself just plays with your mind about what's real and not, and has a very cool story, while the DLC didn't to me.

Alan Wake is a great game.

You need to play both to appreciate the DLC. The Writer continues, and summarizes the events of The Signal, and properly opens up Alan Wake for a sequel. Playing both adds to Alan Wake, what Shadow Broker adds to Mass Effect 2.

How? How can this be your number 2 game this gen, but your first 10/10 this gen?

BTW What is your first game this game? Mine is Mass Effect 2. Alan Wake is....wow #10 for me.... still awesome.

Too bad you didn't decide this sooner. Just before christmas the DLC was half price.

I know you already ordered it but I bought Alan Wake early on.  I was very satisfied with the ending.  The DLC wasn't available for a while and when it finally came out, it still took me a while to play it.  I enjoyed it very much.  I also got the second DLC but I have yet to play it.  I think I'll jump on that tonight.  Even with just the game, I've been very pleased with the game.  The first DLC was great but not necessary.  I haven't even done the second DLC, yet.  If I can enjoy the game and feel very satisfied without the extra content (for a while, anyway) I hope you can, too.

My brain exploded, too.  Maybe Alan Wake was the first game he gave a 10/10 to and then the second game that earned a 10/10 was slightly better?

I was thinking he gave the best game this gen a 10.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001/10 and Alan Wake a 10/10.

Both statistically 10/10, but Alan Wake was the first to be exactly 10/10.
