Games industry analysts have weighed in with US sales predictions for the month of February ahead of the NPD Group's release of official market data this Thursday.

Both Wedbush's Michael Pachter and fellow analyst outfit EEDAR expect Xbox 360 to top the hardware sales chart for the second month running, with DS, Wii and PS3 battling it out for second place.

On the software front, Pachter forecast monthly sales of $595 million, down six percent compared to last year's $634 million and representing a third consecutive month of decline.

Top selling games are expected to be Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and Killzone 3, backed up by continued solid sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops, Wii Fit Plus and Just Dance 2.

Wow the numbers between X360 and PS3 seem to be much closer than according to the VGC numbers, will be interesting NPD.

Does NPD track bundles?

I am not 100% on this, but I don't think that they do. It's also interesting because NPD only tracks US numbers and not Americas as a whole, also accounting in the margin of error, and the fact that it only tracks 60% of retailers exluding Walmart, which offers major deals on hardware, I can't say that there is an absolute 100% reliable source for that region.

They track the consoles in the bundles, not the game. Hence why we may see some weird numbers for Killzone 3 this month for example.

How can the difference between PS360 only be 75-100K? In America! This is a disaster. We will never be able to keep 2nd place at this rate.
