i don't know what all you people are saying. ps3 will never surpass the 360 in sales. especially not by next year. the only reason that the ps3 has been doing so well over the last few weeks is because of the holidays. once the holiday season ends the ps3 willl go back to selling 70-80k per week. and the 360 will go back to selling 90-100k per wek. and the wii will go back to selling 220-250k per week.

 

how can you possibly assume that the ps3 will sell 2.5 times it did in its first year is highly optimistic. i can see it selling more like every other console (close to 2.0) but not as much as 2.5. if the ps3 were to ever surpass the 360, which it wont, then it would take 2-3 years.

my predictions for the the end of 2008.

ps3: 15 million.

xbox 360: 25 million.

wii: 43 million.



the nintendo wii will outsell the ps3 and the 360 combined by the end of 2008.                           

        PS3 will out sell the 360 june 2010.                                                                      

  GOTY of 2008 is super smash brothers brawl.... hopefully.

I love how folks are so quick to jump on the PS3 bandwagon and brag about how the PS3 is finally turning around. Yeah, the 40gb PS3 is selling better than expected but ... it's the holidays, it's $399 and one of the best BR players for the price, so yeah, it will sell - and throw in 5 to 6 free movies ... yeah. BUT ... let's revisit this in the late spring. If the PS3 is still *dominating* I'll gladly dine on crow. However, after working at Circuit City for just one holiday rush, and watching the average consumer turn into a bumbling ignoramus armed with Master and Card or Veeeeesa, I am convinced they are just drones and will buy anything - ANYTHING.

I am still saying the 40gb isn't selling as well as most expected. The proof is in the pudding next spring. Bookmark this thread to see if I'll have some BBQ sauce with my crow or you'll have it grilled with onions.

 That seems the best thing, I don't see much possibility that PS3 will overtake 360 in 3 years let alone 2 in NAmerica. But in Europe, I can see it happening and within a year, considering it sold 3m in only 9 month which is more then half the 360 has achieved in 2 years.

The sales have picked up, but it will be a long haul for them to catch up with the 360, and an especially long time until it can catch up with the wiis lead

Right now PS3 supporters shouldn't be hoping for Sony domination of any kind, they should be hoping for the PS3 keeping its head above water long enough for the PS4 to come out. I know that's rough and a bit slanted, but it'll honestly be an achievement for it to do significantly better than the Gamecube or Xbox in its lifetime.
