and a price don't won't help it much either i think cus it's already cheaper than the ps3
and you can expect sony to fallow with it's own pricedrop if they see ms making a comeback in europe, the european ps3 is still significantly more expansive than the american ps3 anyway, so there is more room here

I think once the ps3 hits $299.99 it will sell.

It will be close. The ps3 is a year behind and is now more than half the 360 sales. If Sony can do it, It will be late Dec 31st 08 :P or Mid 09. I believe it will happen. The 360 has not stopped the ps3 this xmas holidays. The ps3 has stayed pretty close in sales... this week finally beating the 360 WW sales :P

 Excellent post.

 Remember, this is Christmas.  Many of the sales of both consoles are due to parents buying the machines for their hard-core-gaming kids.  Most parents just know that little Timmy wants a PS3 or 360, not which machine has a better library of games, so I think the latter isn't much of a factor right now.

Actually I was in Best Buy today and they had none of the Wii and Xbox360 Premium/Elite/Halo Bundles left.  The only ones left were lots of PS3 and a few 360 Arcade models.  Some people came in and asked for 360's and Wii's but sales people were saying all sold out and not to get the Arcade.  I asked the guy if he plans on playing online and he said NO so I said Arcade is fine.  But I did see some people walked out with a PS3 since they couldn't get their kids the console they asked for. 

I am in agreement that it would be difficult to catch up in 2008 since I can't imagine MS will just keep the prices the way it is in 2008.  If they dropped it to $199 then this console race will really get interesting. 

And for those who says blueray and graphics are everything... well Wii and PS2 have none of those and they are still selling more than PS3!

No. Ps3 will not pass sales of 360 in 2008. NO CHANCE!

 Is your post a joke? I'm asking in all seriousness, I have no idea what have your acronyms stand for(g3, m2, r2, w,8d?) And when you mention If the x360 won't slow down much I assume you mean the ps3, as the x360 already sold 15-16 million, which implies you think the ps3 by 2008 year end will have sold what x360 has already sold now, but some how it will pass it as if it won't sell a single console from now till then? So tell me this was a joke post.

And secondly people MGS4, GT5, and FFXiii are fine as games that will push the system, but please stop listing LBP, most people don't know anything about this game, there is far more reason to believe it will be a commercial failure(Even if it's hailed the greatest game by critics) then think it will push system sales. 

Thirdly how can anyone suggest the ps3 will pass the 360 in America even in 2009? and early 2009? seriously people there is more data right now to support the idea that the 360 will have an even bigger lead on the ps3 by then, rather then the ps3 taking the lead. 

No it won't, but the gap will be only 2 million or less after next year. By mid '09 the PS3 should be about 2 million or so ahead, however.
