Well we all have them, blue and white Nintendo Points cards. We buy them prepaid at any major games retailer and exchange them online for Nintendo Points. Up until now we could use these points cards on any major Nintendo system, DSi and Wii. But it appears Nintendo doesn't want us using universally accepted cards so they are creating a new points system  another card exclusively for the 3DS.

That means everyone hoping to load up some points from one of your Nintendo Points cards will have to wait for Nintendo to release their new system which is said to be implemented shortly after launch. Our existing cards will still work on Wii and DSi but will be useless for 3DS.

Yeah, uses real money. I just hope that they give the option for DSi owners to dump their remaining DSi points onto their 3DS account as part of the data transfer deal (though i don't have a DSi), because then there might be salvation for my leftover Wii points come next console

I don't have them nor have I ever used them, yet I have almost 30 WW/VC games. They're pointless, just use cc in the shop.

Upon first reading this topic, I thought it meant that there would be no points-card system for the 3DS at all, and I was prepared to punch a puppy. Then I read that they're using a new points-card system, which is something I'm pretty cool with.

Yeah, I've only used a points card once that my sister gave as a present. i've always just found it easier to use my credit card in the shopping channel, not sure what the real point of buying the cards is anyway.

It's for kids whose parents wont let them use their credit cards.
And can also be given as a present (your case for example).

It's also a way to get the points cheaper if you shop around :P
