So...which 7th generation console is the best?

Wii 169 28.40%

PS3 313 52.61%

Xbox 360 112 18.82%

Total:594

Why is it that this site has so many more PS3 fans, BTW? Is it because people who are more passionate about video games generally tend to prefer the PS3, meaning that the regulars of most gaming-specific websites would tend to vote the same way? Or is it an explanation that is unique to this site?

ps3 won a poll in which console did better in 2010 on gamefaqs, I think people are just starting to like the ps3 more then 360

I mean it does make sense: the PS3 is objectively the better console. It's just interesting that we're seeing a bifurcation within the hardcore gaming community itself, between what I guess you might term the "frat crowd" who tend to only play FPSes/GTA and don't really know much about video games, and the geek crowd that is knowledgeable about the minutiae of gaming consoles and maybe gadgets in general.

Edit: I suppose "Nintendo nerds" count as a third group of hardcore: people who really, honestly believe that the Wii is the best gaming system qua gaming system because it's the only console you can play Mario and Zelda on. I get the feeling that they're an extreme minority within the Wii's overall userbase, though.

@conegamer i dont think there are that much more Sony fans on this site, i would think there are more Ninty fans

The numbers don't lie. I think it sometimes seems like there are more Nintendo fans because they're an aggrieved and vocal minority, not because there are actually more of them. The Wii is always going to be a failure in the eyes of hardcore gamers, no matter how many consoles it sells to grandma. I think that probably spurs a lot of embittered Nintendo fans to take up arms to defend their console of choice.

@Qays  I dont think its so much as what MS is doing, IMHO there doing everything right. But its just that the PS brand has done such a complete 180 since launch that only someone with a complete hate for all things Sony could not see it. I got PS3 in 08 with low expectations, just wanted to see the tale of Solid Snake come to an end and get some multiplats. They've improved there online considerably, even putting PS1 games on there on a consistent basis. Devs have learned machine, so the differences between multigames are not that different. The 1st party has gone up in quality and quantity. They put back in rumble and they even got rid of that retarded Spider-man movie lettering(whose idea was that?)

As for the hardcore Ninty fans they are the minority on Wii

I certainly don't think this poll would have turned out this way back when the PS3 was first released. My guess is that back then Xbox would have won handily, because it really did seem like the smarter buy for the discerning hardcore gamer.

I guess my conclusion is that high-information hardcore gamers aren't really loyal to companies or brands, but they are loyal to what they perceive to be the best console.

PS3 all the way!

all give a different experience, but i'd have to say PS3.

for some one who has been a Nintendo fan for the past 5 gen's its not easy to say, but the choice is clear when given the option.

if this was the 5th gen then i'd be saying Nintendo hands down, but i'll always stay with the console with the best verity which has been PS3. and giving me the ability to create games is just icing on a already sweet cake.

the 360 still has time to grow in my eyes, but as for now its just not for me. i've always consider buying 1 used, but it'd have to be (at this point and as far as i know other then my friends slim model which failed on him after 1 month of ownership) the slim model.

disclaimer alert? no flamming just my experiance. i speak for noone other then myself and the friends i represent across all 3 platforms. including PC.

Having owned every single console this generation and experiencing what they all have to offer I would have to go with the PS3 as my choice and it is indeed a very easy choice.

It has arguably the best (Although tied with the 360) 3rd party support and a constant stream of high quality 1st & 2nd party exclusives as well.

Need a console that will give you more quality titles than you can probably keep up across a wide variety of genres? The PS3 is bar none the best place to go.

Consoles are remembered for their games and not for their sales and I still believe that when this generation is long passed the PS3 will be remembered most of all.

On a sales site it is very easy to discount titles like 3D Dot Game Heroes, Nier, Split/Second, Mod Nation Racers, Disgaea, MLB the Show, Tales of Graces, Tales of Xillia, Last Guardian or even Folklore, but I know damn well that I will remember that I played those games much more than I will remember that Mario Kart Wii sold 25M or that Call of Duty sold 20M.
