Forums - Sony Discussion - NGP announced!! NEW PSP! specs inside

I have to admit, the NGP sounds pretty cool.  I was a little skeptical at first because it sounded alarmingly like the N-Gage but after seeing the features, it does look pretty cool.  The touchpad on the back has some cool potential, now let's just hope people actually use it and take advantage of all the cool potential.

My only worry about this thing is the price.  If the 3DS already costs $250, I can only imagine how insanely expensive this is going to be.

All in all, I'm excited about it and more interested in the NGP than the 3DS (though that's mainly because I know the 3DS price).

wow, I'm at a loss for words...

dual analog stick, about time. Ill wait till i hear a price before getting excited

While I am impressed with the whole thing, I haven't really used my PSP in 2 years. Not bought a game for it in 3, so this isn't going to be on my purchase, list unless some weird exclusive appears on it (FFXV).

That said, if they make and release a Call Of Duty for it, things could go really well.

Hmm, pie.

I'm really really excited about the back trackpad, it's the feature that has me more excited as I've been thinking about possibilities on what to do with it.

Examples:

Gran Turismo - Using the trackpad as the gear shifting pads in a sports car, left would go down 1 gear and right would go up. You could also emulate a standard shift stick for manual drive cars.

God of War/Devil may cry: gestures for combo finishers, swiping two fingers down to activate rage of sparta/devil trigger, Quick time events with trackpad swipes.

Shooters: Tap to reload, swipe to throw grenade, two finger downward swipe to duck.

JRPG: Imagine swipes for the different spells. Join your fingers in the middle to cast Fira, Separate them from the center to cast Thunder, circled motion for a summon.

YES!!!!! I'm beginning to drool and can't concentrate at work :s

Sony hit it out of the park. Tremendous screen, sleek design, actual analog controls, and double touchscreens -- brilliant. I was wondering how they were going to solve the fundamental problem of ergonomics -- handheld controls can be painful for adult-sized hands.

Mini-analog sticks plus double touchscreens (the front is probably just a "poke" device, while the latter is a "grab-and-drag" device) = millions of happy hands. Second and no less important: they rolled out 3rd party developer support. Expect a flood of topnotch titles at launch.

I think some of you are expecting this to release next month from those comments?

The games releasing in Japan in a little less then a year! Why would it have a list of all launch titles and price. Yeterday was basically just a demo or what the NGP is and what it can do. Price will hit in around September or October and that's just for Japan, America price will likely hit in 2012.

Also price could look like this at launch, I'll be happy with both.

PS3: $250 - $300

NGP: $299 - $350

I will pay up to $350 for this! I hope there is a game bundled on launch. Awsome can't wait!

And for those hating, you are not true gamers. A real gamer would be proud that there will be an HD console like experience on the go.

I have to admit that they didn't show anything I didn't expect. Looks decent though. But since games are on cartridges and PS3 games are like at least 10 gig in size, wouldn't that make games really expensive? Could potentially be £50/$60-$70 per game? Like N64 games.
