Portal 2 to have PC & PS3 Co-op

http://pressxordie.com/2011/01/14/portal-2-to-have-pc-ps3-co-op/

An EA employee has confirmed to PressXorDie that Valves upcoming first person puzzle platformer Portal 2 will be sporting cross-platform co-op between PC and PS3.

At E3 2010 Gabe Newell came on stage at Sonys press conference to announce that Portal 2 will be coming to PS3. But more importantly than that, it will also be the first console title to come with Valves “Steamworks” package. Valve announced that this would include Steamcloud support and automatic updates, but it seems it’s also enabled something a little more exciting.

Cross-Platform play between PC and console has been attempted several times this generation, though normally with an imbalance in PC’s favour. Has Valve managed to smooth over the kb/m & controller divide?

The official press release is expected next week.

would be quite neat if it turns out that way

Awesome news.

If its co-op than the difference between Mouse and Controller is lessened.

Time for hype

What other games have also tried to do cross platform this gen?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Nice. PS3 version is becoming slowly the "definitive" console version to own.

I dont know what Sony "did" for Valve or what MS did "not" do for them but im loving what im seeing. Day 1 for me. Ive never seen a 180 like this

You really care that much about cross platform coop that It makes a complete 180 degree difference?

I don't see any point to it to be honest. I don't know anyone that owns a PC and not a console that I would want to play Portal 2 with...and when playing with strangers it really doesn't make any difference to me if its "cross platform"

Sony opened PS3 to Steamworks... Microsoft not.

Simple.

That's why Valve is among my favorites companies in the industry. Also, the PS3 version could come with KB&M support... If the user still prefers dual-analog, it's their problem then.

Also, I don't know why cross-platform/PC online is not standard this generation. I mean, it was tested out since the Dreamcast era.

Love the picture.
