Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Good games for a five year old?

What a kid likes and what a hardcore gamer would consider a good game are totally different.

A stupid Disney or Pixar film game adaption platformer is all he needs.

Which makes me think a Wii or even PS2 would suit much better

Time for hype

Grand Theft Auto :)

Dante's Inferno (I wanna see the guys reactions)

Seriously though its tough on the 360, a lot easier on the Wii. I go with the lego games that someone else suggested

No mention of Kameo yet??

Well... Kameo!

I played Mario & Zelda (1 & 2) on the NES when I was 5. I don't see why everyone thinks you need some "kiddy" game. All you need is a clean game. Granted, he is more likely to like some disney or movie tie in game than you or me, but I wouldn't exclude any other games.

Now, I don't think the X360 is particularly well suited for a 5-year old unless the parents don't care that he is playing T rated games. Off the top of my head games like Forza, or Madden would probably work (I'm assuimg they have an easy control mode). Any racing game with an easy mode would work. Banjo-Kazooie might work along with Sonic & Sega: All-star racing, or the Sega All-star Tennis. There are also the LEGO games but I believe they are E 10 but should be ok anyways.

If you go here you can select E and E 10 ratings to see which games are available on DVD.

Personally, I think the kid would be better off with a Wii just because of the larger selection of E rated games, but if he really wants to get a X360 there are more than enough good games to choose from.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I would suggest Wii but Telus is giving him the 360 free for installing wireless internet. He said he was thinking of getting him a Wii but thought the X-Box being free would be better. He knows absolutely nothing about games and other then Kinectimals and Joy Ride and Adventures I couldn't really think of any good games a five year old should play.

As for coddeling him. Personally I don't think a five year old should be playing anything over E rating. Their are more then enough child friendly games on the Wii. I know some kids grew up with violent games but I think that ruins childrens innocence. Not to mention he is a pastor and getting his kid Mortal Kombat or something would not really go so well with his beliefs.

So basically what I'm hearing is the 360 only really has Lego games when appealing to children?

Is he just getting a 360 or the 360 bundle with kinect? If he isnt getting kinect then getting kinect and a extra game would be more than getting one of the bundles for the wii ( if he gets them at 179.99 which i have seen many stores have them)

I am a nintendo fan, not a nintendo fanboy

Tell him to sell the 360 and get a Wii. Then site off the bagillion games that are perfect.

Otherwise...

any LEGO game (especially Star Wars) was fun and usually cheap.. like $20.
...

That's all the 3rd party stuff I can think of. lol

I know my nephews have a few other games like Simpsons and Spongebob they liked and my kids like when they go over there but as a gamer I just can't bring myself to purchase those games. So my kids stick with LEGO, boy and his blob, mario (of every kind), donkey kong, bunch of VC stuff, ghostbusters...

Ah the Ghostbusters game might be fun... maybe too hard though.

360 is simply a bad choice for a 5 year old really.

Should be a DS or a Wii. Far better environment.

When I was 2 I played my first video game ever: Doom. Stupid green acid kept killing me though.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need...
