Sadly I don't think it's Jeremy Soule doing the soundtrack this time.

Was his music as epic as the Skyrim Music? That music is pure awesomeness.

You have played Oblivion haven't you?

Soule wrote the soundtrack for Morrowind and Oblivion, they're both epic.

The Skyrim trailer music piece was short, I couldn't draw enough conclusions. It sounded very good, but if it's confirmed it's by Jeremy Soule then I know the whole soundtrack will be fantastic.

Haven't played Morrowind and only the smallest portion of Oblivion.

Maybe I'll go off to youtube right now to listen to some of Oblivion's Soundtracks.

BTW what made you think in the firs tplace that Soule wouldn't compose the music for Skyrim?

Because Bethesda ditched him for another composer for the Fallout 3 soundtrack. Plus the Skyrim trailer bit has lots of choirs, while Soule usually don't use choirs like that.

I'm drinking a beer now in celebration. Oblivion was one of my favorite games of all time. With a new engine and better graphic 2011 will be the best year for gaming ever!!!

Nope, not at all, but then again, i'm not a fan of Wrpg's

Don't blame the engine blame the programmers at Betheasda. For example Epic Mickey uses the Gamebryo engine, it doesn't have lots of bugs.

Yes, bugs brings bring joy  and hilarity to a grand adventure.

instant GOTY

Other games shouldn't even try to compete next year.

I am excited it will produce an amazing graphics engine that the latest Fallout game will run off of, but I am not excited about the game itself. Here are my pet peeves with the Elder Scrolls series:

  • Completely unmemorable story line.
  • Leveling system allowing you to become a God before you complete the first quest in the main quest line.

These may only be two points but they are huge ones in the RPG genre. I grew up on JRPGs where story was everything and the difficulty pacing was almost perfect. The Elder Scrolls series does not address these.

Instead, with Oblivion and Morrowind's leveling system I could level by swinging my sword at weak enemies and become untouchable from the get go after 10 to 20 hours of purposely leveling my skills. In effect, this leveling system completely ignores any need for the developers to think of pacing the difficulty at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of the game.

In terms of story, it seems to be by region. I remember Morrowind was all about Dark Elves, but I don't remember the main antagonist of the game or even the reason I was fighting him. Same thing with Oblivion, yet this time it is about a cult and some reawakened God of destruction. All the rest that ties it all together, I can't remember because it had no emotional impact on me that I could relate to and remember.

If Skyrim revamps the leveling system entirely so that it is not tedious and is correlated with the quests AND puts forth an awesome tale in the trailers, then I will be excited. After all, I spent 100 hours each in Morrowind and Oblivion beating them a couple times and loving them for their vastness.
