This accusation that Sony lied in some way gets tossed around alot so I'm curious, what exactly did they lie about?

Well of course they lie about everything.  Every single time their quarterly numbers come out, it is a lie.  Every time they release numbers for something like Move, it is a lie.  Every time 360 numbers come out, they are under-tracked, however...OBVIOUSLY.

sony is sugar coating us again by simply going by shipped numbers and not revealing actual sold move units

so going by this logic MS could have said that kinect sold 5 million kinects instead of 2.5

You think Sony gives a flying sh*t about how many PS Moves we think they sold?

 

you do know that if it doesnt have a big userbase many people wont buy the move, which in turn wont bring any 3rd party support, which in turn = failure right??

This announcement seems to mark how many combo packs and single sticks that Sony has shipped to retail in preparation for the holiday season.

Since most people are probably buying at least 2 of these items, the 4.1M number is at least 2x the expected user base by the end of the year.

However, Sony may have been too late in getting items to market as the eBay sales and apparently unavailability of the controllers at retail means that demand is outstripping supply.

It's defiantly because they are "sugar coating" us.  Especially since EVERY TIME Sony releases shipped numbers, they are clearly just "sugar coating" us.  I begin to wonder how many hundred's of additional PS3's every single store has in stock across the world since Sony is clearly forcing these retailers to buy more and more.

THQ for example just announced that they are making (2) Move titles, both being "Core" titles too.

I find it incredibly hilarious SONY is somehow "sugar coating" things due to shipments.....fact is, it wouldn't be shipped if there wasn't demand.

SONY can't just roll a truck of Moves or PS3's up to Walmart and say, "F*** you, you're taking them!!!!"

It just doesn't work like that!!!!
