I honestly don't see why people care if people spell color/colour a certain way. I mean, English is bound to be different from region to region.

Anyhow,, the U.S has a population of about 310 million, plus Canada ( we use the same stuff don't we?) that pretty much outnumbers British English speakers by a lot.

Unless people start counting India...

People from Ontario use British English, I am not sure about other provinces (excluding Quebec) though.

We sound differently too, Canadian actors that go to Hollywood are taught to speak like an American.

I have been exposed to the Ontario accent by my relatives, it is difficult to describe but for example Roger is Rawger etc.

Yeah, that's how we speak.

Anything up to 1.8 billion people in the world speak English.

You're outnumbered

Incidentally, India has the second-largest English speaking population in the world, at 120 million.

Those 1.8 billions  includes all forms of English, not just British.

That's still 1.5 Billion British English Speakers  and 300 Million American English speakers.

Don't forget Australian!

And uh...

hrm

Jamaican English?

Yeah, that's it. That's like 2.5 Billion right there.

Both Australian and Jamaican English are British English.

They have differences but not as much as American English compared to British English.

I don't  how to argue this since I've never considered Australian English similar to British English. I was just pulling the stuff out of my ass anyways.

I can see Jamaican, but to be fair, Jamaica is more of a mix of both in areas thanks to U.S influence.

BE more than likely, I can't (well I can) believe the sheer ignorance of EA spelling medal of HONOUR incorrectly though.

Huh, I have a cousin that lives in New Zealand and they sound different but they spell and taught English like the British.

Depends on if you count Indian English as being a variant of British English or its own dialect.

I'd be inclined to treat it as its own dialect, since in terms of pronunciation and lexical/grammatical idiosyncracies it's at least as different from British English as American English is.
