T3B is pretty much dead right out of the starting gates. Problem: Toriyama is doing the plot (and he's never written a good narrative, period) and it's already apparent that the Aya in previews is NOT portrayed as she should be. Her gross objectification also does not help matters

Yeah you could be right, we have no idea about the story, but maybe hes not doing all of the writing because T3B was in development before he and Kitase joined the team. LAMO at gross objectification, its really not the best thing for a reboot imo. but we'll see because i dont think either Toriyama or Kitase are in charge so it might turn out well.

Hate to break it to ya BUT THEY ARE IN CHARGE. Toriyama has ALWAYS been the scenario writer and Kitase seems to be the higher authority on this, mostly due to the director being a no-name (his biggest project being Crisis Corw -meh-). And the premise itself is all I need to know: amnesia, time warps, and an outright BUTCHERING of Aya's personality.

Do you guys really want Square-Enix to make a new Chrono game?

I mean, seriousely, Square-Enix?

Let Horii do it.  He made the only good one. ;)

They were both good. -_-

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

But I thought he worked on Trigger...

He did. Like I said. <3

actually Horii didn't do that much for Trigger. He made the basic concept alongside Sakaguchi, but most of the actual main plot was contributed to Masato Kato (who was the writer-director of Cross) with Kitase and Tokita doing sub-plots.

Yeah, I know Horii did the base scenario, but he also supervised the entire project.  That's probably key, I mean if he can get Level-5 to make a good RPG, he can probably get about anyone to do it. <3

How about this... Armor Project, Mistwalker, Tokita's team collaborate on a "Chrono Trigger II".  If they need they can also hire whichever code monkeys (Level-5, Matrix Software, h.a.n.d., etc) suits their fancy.  And hire Kato freelance.  Sound good?

Horii was still pretty minor on the supervision thing, it seemed to mostly be Kato's baby when you get down to the main story. Horii can make a premise, but quite frankly the guy can't really write an engaging PLOT and complex characters unlike Kato who made some of Square's best narratives like Xenogears (and partly FFVII.

And no, we don't actually need another Chrono game. Cross wrapped up everything nice and neat with the two worlds combining into one

Eh, I don't think you're following, Horii wasn't just supervising Kato's story, but the whole game.  That's one of his real strengths, keeping *everything* on track, and it's why the Dragon Quest series has been so consistent (particularly compared to other long running JRPG series).

I'd also take issue with your claim that Horii can't write and good plot with complex characters, personally I think DQV is one of the best narratives in the entire genre, and frankly more emotionally complex than anything I've ever seen from Kato... just because Horii writes accessible stories with universal themes, and doesn't get bogged down with faux politics or misinterpreting Nietzsche, doesn't mean his stories and characters aren't complex.

I didnt know they were in charge, i've heard that Crisis Core was good so it might still turn out okay. but yeah the script dosent sound good at the moment, time warps, ect, all the stuff you said. it seems Kitase and Toriyama like to create these unrealistic characters and fill up the scipt with unecessary character monologues. its really abyismal imho.

either way this is a good thing imo, if it dosent turn out well, they will have damaged the PSP reboot, the franchise could still have a chance to recover on the home console, and secondly they will be exposed without being able to hide behind FF7.

If you had any problem with Blue Dragon, Blame it on MistWalker. Artoon was jus hired Muscle, Story, game design ext was handled by Mistwalker.

Level 5 cant even perfect there own games, They made some of the stupidest amatuer moves in White Knight Chronicles

dont even get me started with Rouge Galaxy

The Best Game L5 has ever developed is DQ, with how big a company they are..your best game being outsource work is pretty bad.

not surprising

I agree, a new Chrono game would be awesome.

Also, don't they now have the IP to "The Legacy of Kain". A new Soul Reaver game would be awesome.
