I picked of my pre-order today, and I've spent about 5 hours playing 3 games - Fighters Uncaged, then Dance Central, and finally Kinect Adventures, and I was pleased with them all, I must say. first off:
- Fighter Uncaged is a pretty decent game, and it really shows the benefit of having a full body motion controller for the game. The game isn't as lightening quick to response like Dance Central, but if you get the timing down for attacks and blocking, it's a decent fighting game. It's also going to have you huffing after a long sparring period, but the same will probably be said for most kinect games.
- Now, Dance Central,...the game is TRULY the best title out of the three I played (Got U-Shape for the Wife's B-day, so I didn't open that). The movements and motions are smooth and crisp, and your really will be dancing, or you will fail fail fail. This one also had me huffing alot, and I bombed on Soulja Boy...but it was fun. This is probably going to be a huge title, and probably massive in Europe, since they seem to be into it as well. I will say this tho...dancing games are big in Asia as well, at least on the arcade level from my trips there in the past.
- Kninect Adventures...aka...free title. It's okay, and if you have kids, are you are an achievement whore, it's a good choice. That will be how I utilize it, as even my 2 1/2 year old will probably be able to enjoy it.
Overall, it is cool to navigate with the hands free, and while it's not "revolutionary" like the Ipad (tongue in cheek), it is a totally different spin on anything I've seen to-date. It really does work, and is it prefect yet...nope, but one can easily see how in 6-12 months, games on this platform will perform with better timing and accurracy. I can see why M$ boosted the sales projects...I think it's going to be huge...Halo huge.
