Forums - Gaming Discussion - Majin Demo (PSN/Live) - Anyone tried it?

Just tried the demo for Majin and The Foresaken Kingdom, a game I didn't even know existed until yesterday, and I have to say I really liked it.

Anyone else try it or know more about it?

While far from a graphical powerhouse, the visual look was nice and seemed fairly consistent.  What I liked though was a game that felt different and somewhat old fashioned, with a focus balanced across puzzles and combat and what feels like a fairly well thought out and consistent gameplay world.

I'm always a sucker for good companions, and Majin from the demo I felt had a lot of promise.

I'm not sure what demand there is for a title like this, particularly in US/UK right now, but the demo alone has got me interested in a purchase whereas I haven't even bothered with Medal of Honor or ordering Black Ops because I'm just fed up with FPS right now - too many too often for me.

I want more variety and this title seems to promise something different from the current gaming norm.

I downloaded the demo but can't bring myself to play it. Majin has been one of my most anticipated games ever since it was announced at GC last year, and I can't help but feel it's best to just wait three more weeks.

One thing is for sure, though: G. O. T. Y.

Honestly, I didnt like it very much.

Not bad, but nothing special even. But PS3 games costing what they cost I will certainly not get it.

The best thing about Majin was that I played it after playing the Blacklight: Tango Down Demo. There was no way to go but up.

Seriously though. Blacklight sucked balls.

i liked the demo and i'm looking even more forward to the actual game now

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I was suprised by how fun the demo was.

I was expecting the gameplay to be pretty weak but it ended up being the best part. I also like how they made the majin so interactive and funny.

The graphics aren't on par with Folklore (made by the same company) but they're colorful which is nice.

Had a feeling you'd like it considering how much you love Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. xD

That said, I haven't gotten around to trying it just yet.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Yeah, it's got a similar vibe but the graphics aren't quite as good as Folklore (which, oddly, I also liked so clearly something with their work chimes with me).  I get the feeling though this is more open world and each stage or level is larger than the relatively small sections you traversed in Folklore, so that might explain the difference.

Anyway, I agree from the demo the Majin seemed very controllable and the I liked the way you approached puzzles.  I'll wait for a few reviews but this might have become and unexpected buy title for me.

I liked it's slower pace, too.  I find a lot of games now - much like summer movies - are trying too hard to keep up a crazy pace all the time with no downtime and a loss of balance between time to soak up some atmosphere or plot elements vs action.

I've checked out some videos now and the full game looks good with a fair variety of puzzles hinted at, plus more combo attacks and the like.

I was pleasantly surprised by it, considering I had all but forgotten about the game until I saw the demo on PSN. I can see the game being slightly challenging, too, with those creatures latching themselves onto Majin and having to watch his back (literally) constantly.

its okay im still on the fence on buying it.

I guess I better give it a go then.
