I suggest Resonance of Fate, I was not interested at all in the game but when I bought it I really loved it and I am picky with my RPG games. Demon Soul's is a good choice, along with, Valkyria Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles :)

White Knight Chronicles is actually a good game and I hope the sequel comes out soon :D

I recommend the greatest RPG of this generation:

DEMON'S SOULS

Nothing I or others say  will be able to show the fantastic atmosphere and gameplay of this game, especially the brilliant campaign offline with online.

I have 90 hours of games and playing the New Game Plus Plus Plus (the difficulty increases in each playthroughs).

And I just killed now a Black Phantom that invaded my world 1-4.

I know many will disagree with me for suggesting Enchanted Arms, However I found it to have a unique battle system and funny dialogue. Get it if you see it for under $10 USD.     

Since so many have already done an admirable job of talking up Demon's Souls, I will say this:

I LOVE ETERNAL SONATA.

That is all.

Im a huge RPG fan...so far the my favorites this gen are Valkyria Chronicles, Demons Souls and Fallout 3.

WKC: I really wanted to like WKC especially because it was from LVL 5. Unfortunately i couldnt get into the game because i felt the battle system to be slow and boring and the story/dialog in the game wasnt all that great either. The story felt like it was writen for kids. I do think the online stuff is pretty cool tho :D

Eternal Sonata: Pretty enjoyable, i liked the battle system, graphics, sound but the leveling up, looting and customization is lacking. Also the story wasn't that interesting.

FFXIII: I actually enjoyed this game despite wat everyone else thinks. Its not the best FF game ever but i did enjoy it alot when i played it. the main downside to this game is that the first 75% of the game is linear. The battle system got better and more tactical as it progressed. If u aim for platinum in this game then u'll understand the dept of the battle system as u have to constantly experiment with paradigms and tactics.

SO4: Im currently playing this one. So far not so bad.

Dragon Age: Origins: This is a great wRPG. Its a game where your choices makes a difference. People say that this game has a great story. well i disagree, i think the story wasnt that great. The greatness of this game is the storytelling not the story itself. Enjoyed this game and looking forward to DA II.

if i were to recommend any of the rpgs i played this is how i would rate them based on my opinion and experience with the games:



Demons Souls: 10/10
Valkyria Chronicles: 9.5/10
Fallout 3: 9/10 (would be 9.5 if not for the bugs in the game)
Oblivion: 9/10

Dragon Age Origins: 8.5/10
Final Fantasy XIII: 8.5/10

Eternal Sonata: 7.5/10
Folklore: 7.5/10
SO4: 7.5/10 (so far)
Sacred 2: 7/10

WKC: 6/10

I played some of these games multiple times and the only one i didnt finish or gave up on is WKC. In this list i platinumed 4 of the games(DS,F3,DAO,FFXII close in S2 but dont feel like doing another play-through).

I recomend Demon souls and Disgaea 3(soon 4).

Very good games specially Demon souls.

If your planning to get WKC I suggest w8 for WKC2 cause I hear that its gonna include WKC in it.

I Agree And I would add Eternal Sonata to Mid/Top Tier and Demon's Souls to Top tier they're awesome. and FFXII is 100X more awesome then WKC even though I love WKC but WKC 2 is about 50X more awesome then WKC1.

Dragon Age Origins fits your description.

Since everyone's saying and loves Demon's Souls, get that as well.

But next year look forward to Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age II and Deus Ex Human Revolution.
