Forums - Gaming Discussion - 360 to rule the Summer - PS3 AAA's not out till Sept!

The 360 has the best lineup of this year IMO. The 360 has at least one major possible AAA title hitting each month for the rest of this year (US). The Wii will win the console sales title for the year, but the 360 continues to have the best overall library of the next gen systems. The 360 is going to have multiple titles in pretty much every genre by the end of 07. Even in genres that the PS2 was known for like JRPGs.

Around the Network

Probably the 360 will sell better through summer than the PS3.

September will be a good month for Sony but maybe we´ll see a fight between all 3 companies - Metroid won´t be released before June but September is 2 months later and it´s time for Brawl and Mario Galaxy too. And honestly Metroid and Mario (I expect to see at least one title in September and another of the "big 3" till December) will sell better than their GC counterparts. Probably it´s still the same order (Wii > 360 > PS3) but all systems will sell better than they do now.

if all those games do in fact come out in the same month, that has got to be some kind of record for number of "big name" first party releases in a non-system-launch month. There's a psychological theory out there that if you present someone too many choices they get confused and sometimes don't make a decision at all. I think i'm gonna be feeling that way come September especially when I know that I can also get Assassin's Creed, MGS, GTA, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Unreal Tournament, or Half-Life within a few months. When you take into account the exclusives from Nintendo and Microsoft, could this possibly be the strongest Fall season lineup ever?

Interesting you should mention that, since right now I can't decide between 360 or PS3 and I'm under no pressure to get either so I'm sticking with neither for now. :p

does nintendo really need strong exclusives this summer to sell well?

to answer the question though:

  • Super Paper Mario
  • Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
  • Manhunt 2 (next-gen exclusive, if that counts)
  • Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
  • Pokemon Battle Revolution (mostly for being the first online game)
  • Battalion Wars 2
  • Mario Strikers Charged

Idunno which ones of those you consider big, but they are some of the exclusives coming this summer.

Eventually, it will need strong exclusives to push it. It won't keep selling this well without them.

Super Paper Mario comes out this week, so that's not exactly summer.

I wouldn't be suprised if Mario Strikers Charged, Manhunt, and Project Hammer were pushed back until the fall just like Mario Galaxy and SSBB.

Big Brain Academy will probably be a good title to pick up for people who already have a Wii, but it probably won't be as big as it is on the DS.

Battalion Wars 2 still does not have an official release date.

Mario Strikers Charged comes out in the second quarter in europe, so you can expect this for summer or early fall in america.
