I agree that FFXIII did not deserve to sell more than FFXII. FFXII is better than FFXIII in every aspect, especially replay value. I like FFXIII, but one thing that bothered me was there's nothing to do other than fighting. Not only that, but I can't see myself going through those linear corridors anytime soon.

FFXII, on the other hand, had hunts, a bunch of side-quests, numerous places to explore, espers, etc. You can easily spend 200 hours in that game with the optional stuff. The battle system was pretty neat including the gambits, and removing the random battles/screen battle transition was a welcomed addition. Lastly, I really enjoyed the serious, mature tone of the game (story). If Vaan and Penelo weren't present, it would be a near perfect game for me.

Does Matsuno still work at Square? I really enjoyed XII but seriously what in the blazes has that team been doing since the XII release?

He left Square. I think he's working on the Tactics Ogre remake.

Completely disagree.

Final Fantasy XIII deserved every single sale it got. It's the best RPG this generation hands down. It's one of the greatest games in the series and one of my top 10 all time games. Why?

- One of the best stories.

- One of the best cast of characters.

- hands down the best battle system in a JRPG EVER.

- Hours upon hours of open world exploration and post-game missions.

- Best graphics I have ever seen an JRPG. And I mean this both artistically and technologically.

Now when I say FFXIII has the best battle system most people tend to not understand just how much better it is. There is so much stuff going on at the same time. All of my characters have maxed out the Crystarium and have the best armor and accessories. Each has their use in a battle. However, I can still get destroyed if I don't approach a fight properly. With old JRPG's, you could reach this level of untouchableness. With FFXIII, the battles never get boring and you're constantly coming up with new ways of doing things.

Also, the fact that FFXIII has passed FFXII in sales also serves as a slap in the face of those who have constantly been nagging about the 360 version. People put their fanboy biases in the way when they play video games. They tried to say that the 360 vesion of FFXIII would cause the game to be dumbed down and wouldn't even sell well. Guess what? The game ended up being one of the best in the series and became the best selling JRPG ever on the 360.

Case closed. FFXIII FTW.

Utterly ludicrous.

Nomura directed KH1/2....and is doing versus XIII......produced TWEWY

Kitase directed FF6/7/8.....produced X, XIII

Tabata directed Crisis Core....ok maybe he hasn't proven himself enough yet.

all the above games are better than FF Tactics and FF12.

so yes for me they are better than Matsuno. Deal With it.

In fact I'll add in Ito he co-directed FF6 and directed FF9.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

FFXII was the biggest letdown for me in the series, so good to see XIII outsold it (Anything else should concider as a flop)

It should also be noted that FF13 was able to outsell the lifetime sales FF12 in under a year.

I don't think that would have happened as an exclusive.

I'll state it deserved what it got... could always make a case for less or more.

The one that deserves more sales than it got are FFIX and FFX-2 :D
