Forums - Gaming Discussion - You can't play that franchise

I don't like Grand Theft Auto at all.  This goes all the way back to the original two games with the top view.  I thought that things might change with 3 and guess what?  I didn't like that either.

I also am not a fan of Metal Gear Solid.  Splinter Cell was always more entertaining to me.

Mind you that these are both good franchises and well made, but I just don't get into them.

Name here a franchise you can't stand or can't play to it, you tried, it didn't work, you just don't like it at all.

For example: Call of Duty

I can't play Call of Duty, I find it boring, repetitive and violent for no good purpose. That's because I'm made like this. What's yours?

I hope you mean Modern Warfare, not the entire series. If so, then I agree.

As for me, I can't stand Final Fantasy (or any JRPG really). I find the whole series just mind-numbingly infuriating. It produces no joy, isn't intuitive in any way, and is more stereotypical than a white person being President. It breaks out of the norm eventually, but it's pretty predictable. And don't even get me started on FF7. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't treated like the fucking second coming of Christ Almighty.

GTA

Any Sports Games

Resident Evil and all other Survival Horror/Horror games

Madden

Love the sport, hate the game.

I also despise Madden, but only because I've never played or watched American football, so I know nothing about it, and have no idea what the hell is going on.

It's Rugby League with forward passing and armour.

same for me, call of duty

ICO - Didn't like it at all. Maybe it was because I was younger and played games for the gameplay and not the whole story experience as well as gameplay like I do now, but the gameplay sucked IMO. And I never played SoTC.

God of War - I've only played GOW1 and Chains of Olympus and I found both of them really lame. They're repititve as fuck. In CoO you can basically beat the game by mashing buttons, with the exception of "boss battles"

I feel I should address these two.

Shadow of the Colossus is simply incredible. It is pure gameplay. There's ten minutes of story at the beginning and ten minutes at the end with maybe another fifteen minutes interspersed through 12 hours of gameplay. You owe it to yourself to try it out - it's nothing like Ico.

God of War - I did like the original God of War, and  only enjoyed CoO because I was already such a huge God of War fan. But they are both far and away the worst games in the series. Number 2 and 3 improved upon them in every single way. No more game-winning combos. No more ugly textures. Way more intelligent boss battles.

Okay thanks for the tips. I've heard everyone say SoTC is great so maybe when the HD version comes out I'll play it.

God of War 3 came with my PS3 so maybe I'll have to finally open it and try it.

Yeah I meant Modern Warfare.

I tried.  I swear I tried.

Generic games are generic.

Gran Turismo and Halo

I've tried several times to get into these games but they just don't do it for me.
