I'm surprised Sony isn't pulling out all the stops with Move's launch marketing and hype. As for their mentioning word-of mouth, someone brought up the fact that Kinect will have Facebook integration at launch, which I think will be an interesting marketing experiment (and social experiment). Having pictures plastered all over Facebook of people playing Kinect games and seeing its affect on sales will let us gauge just how powerful a marketing tool it currently is.

Sony expects word-of-mouth success for Move

Sony has said that it is not expecting big day-one sales of its new motion controller Move when it's released in September.
Instead, UK managing director Ray Maguire predicted the peripheral will succeed through word-of-mouth, similar to the gradual uptake of the PlayStation 2 gadget EyeToy.
"Move is a natural extension in the same way as we brought EyeToy to PS2," he told our sister site Eurogamer.net.
"Exactly as with EyeToy in the PS2 days, it's a product that needs to be sampled. You need to get your hands on it. You need to understand it. You need to try it.
"Am I expecting a massive day one? Not particularly. We didn't with EyeToy, either. It went on to be massively successful."
