Anyway, on topic I wonder what that will translate into once interest payments are taken into account. I wouldn't be surprised to see interest eat up most of that operating profit. Still I imagine Sony will be paying tax for the first time in a few years once this FY ends.

I assume that was directed at me?  I am a user of all three current generation consoles actually.

It is naive to think that the Xbox 360 has no effect on the PS3 and vica versa.  The more sales one has proportionate to the other, the easier it is for that console to secure exclusives in the future, something that is especially critical with their new motion controls.

Well first off, Sony ain't Ps3 only.

Each console is pretty cheap so most people shouldn't have problems owning both consoles at this late of the gen.And for exclusives in the future, its would had mattered few years back. Motion Controls are on both consoles unique so they won't have same games. Both consoles are doing great unlike few years back so puplishers aren't afraid that game will flop on release.

Believe me the redesigned console with a price cut would eat into the PS3 sales, thats just life and at this stage how many loyal Sony consumers still exist? I think if some of you were honest you would admit that you are now considering a 360 but only if its price was lower and below are just some of the reasons.

  • Storage
  • Wi Fi (n)
  • Design (Now even looks like a PS3 in the right light)
  • Resolved Failure issues
  • Exclusives

I will admit if the PS3 came down further in price I would consider it, I would not on the other hand consider a Wii.

It's possible. I won 1 console (in a drawing) and bought 2. I wish I didn't buy one of them. And I don't really like it though I enjoyed some games on it a lot.

I'm not going to name consoles. as that's not my point here. Just saying it's possible. Though lieing is probably more probable.

OT: Well, I like seeing companies that make cool things not lose money. because that means they won't go out of business. :D though I'm irritated at sony for disolving studio liverpool

You both fell into starcraft's cunning trap. Starcraft wrote "user" not owner. That means at least one use of each console. See, I'm a Wii user because I played it a bit when I went to visit some friends at easter (they only had the casual stuff, because they have young kids and the parents aren't gamers, so my experience didn't get me the slightest bit interested in buying a Wii, at this stage).

@welshbloke: I'll be buying 360s Arcade used when the next generation starts. I figure it'll be at the right price for me at that point, considering there are only a few 360 exclusives I'm interested in. Same probably goes for Wii, so I can play some Zelda.
