I don't know anyone that said billionS, 1$ billion was touted by me I know that, although I expected EDD to do $1 billion, it didn't. But the Xbox 360 more than likely did $1 billion plus, like others said, Kin totally diminished profits in EDD this Q.

As for overtracking, how exactly? By end of june we have 1 million in transit/shipping/shelves.

So overall the Entertainment division profit margin is 679mil/8bill = ~8.49%. This is quiet low if you compare it to Windows division's profit margin of  12.977bil/18.491bill = ~66-70%. Having said that, the windows division has always had a high profit margin due their position in the market. And secondly microsoft needs to diversify its business via investment. They are loaded, they can afford to take risky investments. The EED have absolute potential for growth especially the gaming division / living room division, so 8.49% is not bad if you look at it holistically in the long term for MS.

i think the two responses to you so far have dealt wikth all the issues.

suffice to say.. XBOX is a VERY succesful business now.  Profiting over 1bn this year. 

The XBOX brand has grown these last few years and with Kinect, it will bring sick numbers revenue wise. This is a company who knows how to compete. They made more money last quater than Apple, just crazy.

Damn Kin is giving the anti-MS fans fuel for fire cause overall they still lost money in that "division".

 

I just wanna know what the real numbers are for MS to catch up when you factor in the Kin - too bad MS won't outright say how much the Kin cost them in losses.

lol only idiots would be talking about billions. no the xbox isn't overtracked, how's did you come to this conclusion? 1.6 billion  is 343 milllion more y/y. Next quarter should be huge. Halo Reach and all those Xbox sales we are seeing in july, should give a nice boost to revenues and earnings.
