The rest of the "Americas" market doesn't sell as many games as the US though...it's definitely overtracked.

That's not exactly true. You need the specific kind of game to sell tons, like this one:
http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/80883/pes-2010-sold-600000-copies-in-growing-latin-america-sw-market/

But in the case of MGS Latin America and Canad don't make much of a difference.

Yeah like the others said, the rest of America is not that much. But 52k does not include bundles nor digital sales. It's probably (surely) overtracked though.

GTA Chinatown Wars bombed but the difference was Rockstar went out and put it across other platforms - PSP and IPhone, so port costs and spreading sales probably made them a profit.

With Peace Walker you only have *ONE* platform to rely on sales - the PSP. I thought Alan Wake was the biggest bomb outside of Blur this year, but so far Peace Walker is taking the cake.

It's just that simple.

Chinatown sold the most on the DS, so that point is moot.

MGS PW sales are sad, but the game is good, and anyone who picks it up will be treated to slightly frustrating controls, along with an amazing single player experience.

Porting a title costs money; judging by the known PSP Chinatown Wars figures, that port at least was probably a money-loser.

I'm fighting the Peacewalker (I got to the "to be continued" and haven't tried the battle, yet) and so far, there hasn't been one single moment where I've said to myself, "this is so awesome".  I admit, I haven't tried mult-player but then I don't know anybody else with a copy of the game.

MGS had the Psycho Mantis, Cybor Ninja, Metal Gear, etc.

MGS2 had the tanker, sniper area, swimming section, harrier battle, etc.

MGS 3 had the Boss, the End, Shagohod, Ocelot moments, etc.

MGS4 had the motorcycle chase, Gear vs Gear battle, and the microwave scene, etc.

On top of that, all of the games had characters that actually had personality, tragedy, and in general, made you care.  What does Peacewalker have to make me care?  The story is sorta weak (unless something huge is going to happen soon), the characters are bland and forgetable, and the boss fights have either been:  Defeat the platoon, defeat the machine, or defeat the platoon escorting the machine.

I hate to say it but.......this game is getting the sales it deserves.

This has been my only psp game I've ever bought and it was really worth it.

I wouldn't go as far to say that, because it definitely deserves more than the 52k (UMD sales) in a month.

But perhaps it doesn't deserve the perfect scores.
