I was expecting the PSP2 on Tuesday and I didn't see it... The PSP didn't ven get a price drop.
The original DS was released in response to the PSP. The 3DS however, was being carefully experimented with and worked on for years. Its only enemy is a price point, which I'm assuming is $199.99 the most at launch.
We saw how much MS benefitted from a year head start in terms of support. The 3DS is rolling on momentum from the highest selling handheld ever, more power, and a strong launch with support of about ~40 titles. There is so much packed in there that the possibilites are near limitless and millions will be on board.
Sony's best shot was to have an answer on June 15th and they didn't. By the time a PSP2 shows up, it will be way too late. If Nintendo were to take Monster Hunter from them (I don't care if they have to moneyhat $35 million) things would be in dire straits. Now sure, with eventual 3DS saturation, the PSP2 will get support, but without a monster Hunter, the PSP is hopeless. MH singlehandedly saved it in Japan for about 2 years this gen.
