It seems to me that games claim to use full ps3 power and at native 1080p resolution. But then get released at 720p resolution and only using a fraction of its power.

both consoles are outdated , you will never see games like battlefield or god of war or any high budget big graphic game being run native1080p on either console they will however make more psn games in 1080p, they generally use much simpler graphics either way 720p native looks great as it is.

i expect new hardware to be leaked in late 2011 and releasing sometime in 2012 2013, i really dont see them pushing much more out of these boxes , i mean look at the games on pc in my eyes the consoles have been maxed out for a good while now, they just keep optimizing games but the reality is consoles will never have super high rez textures like pc nor will they display in 1080p with a steady 60fps or above framerate.

2 more years and we get brand new hardware its not a bad thing especially if the next set of hardware is at least 3 times as powerful thats about how much more powerful a recent gaming pc is to the ps3 and about 4 times more powerful than a 360, theoretical number crunching wise.

Gran Turismo 5 will run in native 1080p. It might not be "true" 1080p, but it's probably the best we get this generation.

God of war 3 originally going to be displayed at 1080p 60fps. Now it's out it only displays 720p. 30-60 frames per second. But only using 50% ps3 power.

its alittle less then 700k pixels less then true 1080p...sorry but thats no where near true 1080p
You all can think that the ps3 has 50-4365908374069347% more power to give but i guarantee you there will not be a single game on the ps3 or 360 that will be at native 1080p @ 60fps that is not an arcade game or arcade game on a disc.

Hum... as far as I know, native 1080p is 1920x1080 pixels.  GT5 runs at a native 1280x1080.  Which isn't 1080p by any strech possible.

Apparently wipeout hd tests if a frame will cause performance loss and if it does it will downscale the native resolution which is unnoticeable. Which i think if very clever because of how fast paced wipeout is.
