Crysis 2 on X360 looks better than the original Crysis!

All the joking aside, I think his point is clear. Crysis 1 was an unoptimized mess of a game which looked great but required skynet to run at max. With Crysis 2 they finally learned how to code an an optimized engine...

Lets hope the optimizing translates well to the PC version since I don't think they've said much about that version with all the blabbing about the PS3/360 versions.

Throw some of those more realistic graphics mods on top of that and that'd be visual bliss.

hahaha...yeah right!

Highly unlikely, but...

If you aren't comparing anything higher than "high" settings, which most decent PCs run Crysis at (stop with the Ultra and mod comparisons since they're still barely playable without dropping resolution or playable frame rates on all but the most expensive VGA card set ups)
- you push a modest 1280x720 resolution (lower than most decent PCs)
- with no AA
- plus an optimized engine for individual console platforms
- possibly even lower hardware overhead from the game levels themselves (which take place in a city with rigid, fixed geometry rather than organic moving geometry, which requires more hardware overhead)
- possibly even smaller levels (that aren't ridiculously spread out like the original Crysis where at times the game felt like a 10K run simulator)

and then I could see Crysis 2 on either console looking good enough to warrant a comparison.

At least until you compared it to Crysis 2 on PC with the settings turned up.

What a load of nonsense.

third.

back in the day it took 1800$ set, a 3 sli 8800 to max crysis.

even optimize 8800 it WAAAAAAAAAAAAAy more than 360/ps3 gpu.

Turn 10 all over again

You seem to be forgetting that-as a previosu poster put it-Crysis was an "unoptimized mess."
Crytek has stated several times that Crysis 2 will be more computer friendly.
I'm not sure what this means in terms of system requirments, but at the very least it won't require you to buy a computer a couple of months from the future to play it the way it was meant to be played.

yes comparing a game running at probably 480p versus a game running at 1200p is fair and balanced.

Well it could look over all better. Such as the polygon count, lighting and shading, environments, amount of people on screen, etc. But obviously the textures won't be as sharp.

Regardless, I hope it lives up to being the most visually impressive game we've seen yet on consoles.

You forget Crysis: Warhead exists apparently. It was way more optimized then Crysis, but still there is no way in hell Crysis 2 can look anywhere close on console to how Crysis Warhead does maxed on PC.
