E&D(XBOX( 360 profits
$375 Million profit in the last 3 months compared to $130 Million same Quarter last year.
$686 million profit in last 6 months up 100% over last year.

This from a Gamasutra article posted Jan. 28, 2010 and despite EDD including Zune which could be a net loss for all we know and Games for Windows which was largely abandoned and would have minimal profits imo.

Unlike SEC where PS3 lost the modest profits from PS2 and PSP and another $890m in their last full year fiscal report. Sorry link won't work for some reason but the web address is below. I used a widely accepted ballpark figure of $4B for losses on xbox 1 and the $1B 'to stay in' was intended to remind readers of the write-off incurred on rrod.

I'm no analyst but the $1B/yr profit guesstimate would probably be fairly accurate for a 12 month period if trends continued. My original point still stands. Why quit now after incurring and writing off huge losses to join the business. Off topic but I recently saw an estimate of M$ cash reserves in July 2009 that was over $31 B. This is not a company likely to leave the vg business for financial reasons and more importantly their reason for joining still exists. Hurt or not Sony are still capable of competing with M$ as a primary entertainment and information provider.

2/3rds of consoles this generation have not downloaded more than 512MB of stuff in this generation. Theres no need for more than a small quantity of flash storage for the majority of people. Remember theres the Wii as well as the Xbox 360 Arcade.


Where are you getting your numbers I personally have filled my 80 gig ps3 without loading any pictures or music on it. When I had a 360 i had 3 games on it and I own over 20 games that I downloaded on the wii. 512 mb is nothing hell it isnt even a 3rd of FFVIII and that was a PSONE game

You're irrelevant to the 2/3rds of the market (Wii + Xbox 360 + PS3) who have not deliberately stored more than 512mb of user defined content on their machines.

The PS3 had huge sales since the slim released yet Sony STILL lost 800 million in the last report, this isn't good at all no matter how you try and spin it, Nintendo are making a fortune as are Microsoft, it's only Sony that isn't. why else do you think Sony are bringing in the PSN subscription, if they don't they won't be able to carry on when the rest of the company is taking huge hits because of the Playstation brand.

all speculation and needless. i didn't make my post to attack or defend anybody. im just tierd of that kind of talk from gamers that own HD consoles as a hole not for just one console owner. your op is valid and i respect it, but those added coments where not needed. before i saw what you posted i was just going to put no way in hell is MS going to get out of the gaming bussiness when they have the most to gain in the 8th gen. it's my belief that neither will leave. all three have stored capital some where?

i don't need facts for that last statement cause if they didn't? sony would have pulled out of the race or just would've let third party take carre of it. i have become unbias because of fanboys on all three console!. it does'nt matter to me who wins as long as i get good games and thats the stans we all should take. to me this thread was pointless?
