I never used them but I don't think you will have to remove them.

I say keep them, they fit your character and role on the site.
Do they waste site bandwidth or require constant maintenance? If not, then leave them.

I think it's good to have them on the front page. Infact that's the first thing I look at on the site.
I say remove them.
oh, yeah, don't remove the one on the front page.
I use the them in 2 other forums, but if they are that demanding remove them.

I like seeing them on the front page but if it's a big problem then there is no question that they should be removed.
