Forums - Gaming Discussion - Alan Wake vs Heavy rain. Which will sell more?

With more ads in America Heavy Rain would have won by even more and oh yes it is over

Around the Network

heavyrain sold like 500,000 to 700,000 units in its first week. so id say heavyrain.

Heavy Rain !

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Its hard to say, I love Heavy Rain, But these two games are so different, they really should not compete in the sales cat. Alan Wake may sale more, Heavy Rain was a whole new game experience, different from anything else out there in the gaming world, also QD is a very small Developer that has only made a few games, vs Remedy, which has made tons of games, and Alan Wake has been in development for 6 years, crazy, since before the 360 was even out, So I would say AW should sale more , will it who knows, with all the time and money spent on AW it would be a HUGH let down it it does not sale well. Heavy Rain was a Experament which did very well. Really hard to compare these two games.

If you told me month ago that people say "heavy rain will sell more than AW" I would have said that you are nuts and that AW is going to be one of the big hitters in 2010

but now I'm not so sure
It's getting bad press and alot of people seem to be disappointed , though they haven't played it
the only thing that can save AW now is either big marketing or realy realy good word of mouth

What negative press?

Also, why are you listening to negative press from people that haven't played the game?

yeah not realy negative press , only 7 reviews or something like that, but people are talking alot about the negative aspects of the game

because everyone expected the greatest game of all times  so they are disappointed

If I listen to the people or not doesn't matter because I got no xbox360  and even if I had one I would only pick it up when it's way cheaper

but anyhow I still wonder about the reactions and also the low pre order numbers

My, my, my......how the tune has changed for HEAVY RAIN so dramatically!

In any case, most of you will probably ask "wtf", by I think WAKE will sell more. Something about Microsoft's marketing + easier-to-pick-up-and-play will work in WAKE's favor.
Of course if Move does wonders for HEAVY RAIN, that could all change, but I stand by WAKE on this one.

Lifetime:

HEAVY RAIN: 2-2.2mill
ALAN WAKE: 2.5mill

That would be awesome. For both games. I so hope that your right.

Im dissapointed that MS still hasnt kicked up the marketing campaign for a killer new IP......

I will seriously be angry if a great game like Alan Wake fails to sell, You guys realize that if Alan Wake sales well Ms will have no choice but continue to support and make new exclusive Ip'S which will = Happy 360 OWNERS!!!!!!

They are talking about some negatives because the game was so hyped. It has been a long time coming like original Fable good maybe great game but still disappointing because of the hype.

Since when did people read into reviews for sales? I mean, supposedly Mass Effect 2 barely sold over a million and thats the highest rated game of this year, and one of the highest rated RPGs of all time.

Either way I think it's going to be a battle of legs, and to see if Alan Wake can manage to do a monster opening It's first week. Right now I think the odds are in Heavy Rain's favor just looking at pre-orders and the monster opening it had in Europe. Unless pre-orders jump big time in the next few weeks and/or theres a large commercial push for Alan Wake, Heavy Rain should win the opening and it will be a battle of the legs.

It's just that simple.
