Maybe I'm wrong... but I'd expect Sony to be the first one to state they are breaking even.

It's possible they are, but I'm not going to take it at face value until a SCEJ employee says it or it makes sense on their financials. You'd think they'd HAVE to be close, but honestly I'd expect a big Sony announcement.

It should be also considered that now Sony is less greedy than in the past, when except die-hard fans, people complained about it, but it still charges quite more, even VAT excluded, in EU than in USA and Japan, so I wouldn't expect them to declare profit until it's sure in USA too, so that they don't have to specify where, risking to piss some still unaware Europeans off, or lock themselves in silence if asked about it.

if this were true, Sony finally starts to make some money off each PS3 sold in July (based on the Q&A. in EU) and people already want a $50 price cut by September? Basically Sony would need to save $68 (WSJ reported loss of $18 per unit plus the price cut) by using this new cheaper graphic card in order to continue making money off each PS3 sold.

Not unlikely considering the average pace at which electronics manufacturing costs drop once the first and more costly period of production, with tweaks, refinement and optimizations still to to be started, has passed.

My strategy that I put together for Sony not to long ago looks really spot on.

Microsoft won't gain momentum again this gen. Sony's full attention should now be on Nintendo. That is if they implement my strategy this year.
