Forums - PC Discussion - Assassin's Creed 2 cracked - Ubi keeps screwing legit owners

Thank you Ubisoft, this was quiete a challenge for us, but nothing stops the leading force from doing what we do. Next time focus on the game and not on the DRM. It was probably horrible for all legit users. We just make their lifes easier.

and more

This release is an accomplishment of weeks of investigating, experimenting, testing and lots of hard work. We know that there is a server emulator out in the open, which makes the game playable, but when you look at our cracked content, you will know that it can't be compared to that. Our work does not construct any program deviation or any kind of host file paradox solutions. Install game and copy the cracked content, it's that simple.

AC2 was already cracked for sometime, but this new crack from Skidrow completely destroys everything of Ubisoft's DRM. Now that crackers know how to crack the DRM, it will be a matter of days, or even hours before every game that uses this horrible DRM is cracked with bigger public exposure.

My message to Ubisoft: Would you please drop that awful DRM? To think that pirates have much better versions than legit owners of AC2.

Serves them right to be honest...

I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again: the trick to preventing piracy isn't DRM. If companies want people to spend any amount of money on a product that can easily be found for free online they need to create some form of incentive to keep our business.

Back in the early days of PC gaming when you purchased a game you would often get swag, be it a map or booklet or a demo or another game; now you would be hard pressed to find a company that includes an instruction manual, let alone anything of value. There needs to be some sort of incentive to BUY the game instead of downloading it, and since both options net you the same game, it cannot just be the fun of playing a legit copy.

Just my opinoin though.

While the end result is probably more so a ton of illegal copies can be distributed, the DRM solution was really horrible.

I'd bet a case study surrounding the older key setup provides just as much protection and is far less of an inconvenience to legit users.

If only more publishers would listen to you!

Now that there's a crack, I might finally consider buying it.

Hold on...can you save your game? Crack was available for a while but you couldn't save your in game progress.

Ever since the russian server emulation program you were able to save, you just had to switch off the online saving feature and create a dummy account...and that was done by just writing anything in the login and password boxes ;).

Skidrow claims that their crack is incomparably better than the other solutions....well whatever gets them through the day since the other solutions with server emulations weren't bad. hey presto click twice on a exe file and then start assassins creed. Done. Finito.

Hope that ubisoft lets up with prices and drm protection or they are not gonna see a single penny from Assassins creed 3.

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.

I guess this is both good  and bad news. Thanks for the tip shio.

I can't believe this kind of "solution" is still in use, have the industry learned nothing? All it does is provoke potential customers.
