Thats awesome. Crysis 2 is both 360 and PS3 exclusive in terms of development. 2 different teams pushing the boxes to the max.

Now noone here in this forum can say Crysis 2 can never be the best graphics because it's multiplat.

If anyone was trying hard to get more out of 360 or PS3 I would hope it was Crytek.

If I'm not mistaken, there was no lead platform for Modern Warfare 2 either. So no, I still think we will see better looking games than Crysis 2 on both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Modern Warfare 2 was lead on PC. 360 and PS3 were ports.

Crysis 2 is the first multiplat title where inhouse developers are actually trying to make their console version noticeably better than the other. One week you can see the PS3 dev team laughing " see the cell ". The next week you can see the 360 dev team saying " fools, you fools. Forget the Sony hype look what we can do " etc etc.

I would love to be a fly on the wall. Specialized teams for both consoles with the most talented graphics guys in the world.

First time I heard that expression. What does it mean?

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

It basically means he would like to know what they really think. If he was a fly on the wall, he'd hear what they really think and not PR speak, hence the phrase.

You know, If I was a fly on the wall in Crytek, I could see the 2 teams taunting each other. Ours looks better. Etc.

@Darc: Ah, ok.

@selnor: Yup, I see what you mean now. Right now I really want to see some HD footage of gameplay already.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

As much as some people play down graphics it is an important factor to many HD gamers, developers and the console manufacturers.

If graphics didn't mean anything to MS then they should have released a "wii powered" system. Likewise sony. Why should they brag about all the billions of pixels, polygons, shaders and this and that crap if it doesn't matter?

Based on a similar recent thread I had a quick look at the history of many posters who, when many argued that x360 was graphically superior than PS3, came across as pure graphics whores.

Some of these same posters are now born-again "fun whores" and play down graphics. I wonder why.

Oh, the weaknesses of character.

Lol... they've already said that it looks better on PS3.

They said at the moment they're getting more performance out of the PS3 than the 360. Things could change, and they just mean by the time the game goes gold, both versions will be the same.

Modern Warfare 2 was not a port, in any direction.

http://www.gamercenteronline.net/2009/04/04/gdc-09-ps3-lead-platform-for-modern-warfare-2/

It was once rumored to be PS3 lead, but that was quickly shot down. All individual teams, all simultaneous development (not ports).

And the bottomline regarding Crysis 2, although it is running on an engine specifically designed to utilize whatever hardware it's on, I can't see it taking advantage of the PS3 like Uncharted 2, God of War III, or Killzone 2 did, just as I can't see it taking advantage of the 360 like ALAN WAKE, Gears of War 2, or Halo: Reach will/did.

I don't doubt their talent and hard work, but this being their first console game, they have some big shoes to fill.

Likewise, they have alreay said it looks better on 360 numerous times. I guess that is testamont to what this guy in OP says. It would make sense that we have heard 360 or PS3 looking better at respective times, if week by week the 2 teams are outdoing each other.

I remember the interview with a Crytek programmer at GDC. Where he said it took them along time with PS3 tech challenges to get the system up to speed. He then went onto saying no other PS3 dev is doing for PS3 what we are. I guess you either trust Crytek or not. Being as they have lead graphics for nearly 10 years. I trust them.
