Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ubisoft does away with paperback game manuals

Bad move.

I demand big paper manuals in colour with story, character, weapons and gameplay informations.
Other free bonuses like maps, posters and other things are of course very welcome too.

That's why I hate buying Valve's PC games. Aside from a nice boxart and of course the game you get nothing...

And I agree about those Eco cases. They're ugly and stink.

Lame, I like to flip through the manuals when I'm bored.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

The pirates are gonna love this. For them this is just one less reason to buy the legit version. Sad, but Ubi is the king of stupid decisions that promote piracy so hardly a surprise. Hiding behind environmental factors just makes it even more pathetic.

What next just a disk in a plain sleeve?

I assume you are referring to PC games which don't come with manuals anymore.

Most PC gamers use digital distribution anyway where you don't even get a disk.

If they want to save the earth then they should make games that you can finish in 15 minutes with zero replayability so you don't waste so much resources on playing games
Actually, it would be better if they started making board games instead.

Oh please people, cry me a freaking river. -__- They will be replaced by digital manuals, whats the big deal?

Tutorials are the best form of insutruction. I have never met a person in the last 10 years who has ever read a manual. While I glaze through on occasions I don't generally need them. The days of needing books for obscure references is gone and it's a waste of money.

I also call BS on Ubisoft for doing this for green purposes. I bet they are doing this to save money.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Ah I miss those. I still have my Half-Life manual as well as the Blue-Shift and Opposing Force manuals. It was great to get all the little tid bits such as Freeman's letter of being hired to Black Mesa or Sheppard's journal entries about their training for the Black Mesa operation.

Shame that Ubisoft will be losing the manuals, but keeping the more expensive PC games and restrictive DRM.

Great now what will I read when I'm taking a shit lol.
