Japan doesn't want No More Heroes, simple as that.

For people talking about the Wii sales of NMH compared to the PS3 and 360 sales of the same game. I don't think that's fair, it's a 2 year old port, very rarely do old ports pull a TOV and double the original sales. The real real interesting game I wanna see in Japan is Basara 3, releasing on the same day - 29/07 - for both PS3 and Wii. The PS3 version is 10 or 15 bucks more expensive, but has better graphics, everything else is the same.

Sengoku Basara 3 has online for PS3 only.

Awww ok, I've been told online is not really that big in Japan as it is in the west so that might not be really relevant but either way we have PS3 with better graphics + online vs the Wii with twice the userbase + about 10/15 bucks cheaper. Will be very interesting to see the split.

I'd expect it to sell better on PS3 (by up to a 2:1 ratio) due to Koei having built up the Musou base there.  On the other hand, about a third of Basara's audience is female and the most similar Musou series (Sengoku) is Wii exclusive, so that version may surprise us after all.

Should be a fun match up.  Too bad there's no 360 version to compare though.

A 360 version would be irrelevant - in Japan - the Wii and PS3 version will be interesting, I do not expect it to be a 2-1 ratio for the PS3 at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii version actually is the one with the most sales for the reasons you mentioned+the fact that it's cheaper. People like cheap stuff.

Suda should just stop releasing his game in Japan, they never seem to do well over there.

Well yeah, a 360 version wouldn't do amazing, but I still think it'd be interesting to compare.  Also, Japan's the least price sensitive market, a 10,000-15,000 yen difference just isn't going to sway a significant amount of buyers.  That's practically nothing really.

I also have to say it's a bit bizarre the Wii version is foregoing online play considering it's the only console in history to manage million selling online games in Japan, one of which even came from Capcom themselves (MH3) and was the only pay-to-play game ever on any platform to hit that benchmark.  Seems like a dumb move, after all Capcom's done to build MoHun on Wii.

Frankly, I'd be shocked if the Wii version came out ahead considering it's comparably cut back and Koei's already firmly established the Musou base on PS3. PS3 is the easy favorite here, though a Wii upset still isn't unimaginable.

So why was the original games performance the Wii's fault exactly?
