Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Iwata is a busy man: Had to deal with 700 issues due Wii popularity

I'm not surprised that Iwata is so busy, leaders are usually the hardest working people in the world.

(Iwata thought to entrust auxiliary and “low-priority” software development to external firms.)

are you saying Metroid is low prioriry for Nintendo? I feel sad for the franchise...

Crazy I consider myself a hard worker, but Jesus when did he just um relax and watch a movie or something.

Low priority -- no.

But auxiliary -- yes.

Think about it. Prime was the main entry for the Wii.  So this is something else.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Metroid is an enigma.  They've always called it their 'third pillar' next to Mario and Zelda, yet given it little advertising and support outside of the Prime games.  And even with the Prime games, they never got the kind of advertising and support say a Mario or Zelda got.

So hopefully this new Metroid game will change all that, as it seems like, so far, Nintendo has been trying to reinvent the series and is showing it off every change they get.  Its pretty easy to see they'll be throwing a media blitz of it at E3...the real question is, will commercials for it follow on TV.

Success can be more stressful than failure

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Im sure the Wii online network (or lack of it) is issue 701... just a few more years and Iwata will resolve it.

Why does Nintendo need more than they have?

Maybe for the Wii they don't need more...but they will for the next system. I mean, anyone that has experienced XBL or PSN must have issues with the Wii network. I can't even bring myself to play T vs C knowing that there little to none matchmaking, no voice chat, I can't find people that are good and add them as freinds to play later, insane lag...etc

Well, Mario Party, which two latest iterations combined have outsold the whole Metroid franchise, is developed by Hudson. But i don't think Metroid is a high priority for Nintendo right now, since Prime 3 couldn't beat even Prime 1 in sales, while the Wii installbase is way higher than GC installbase ever was.
