Why do you take offense about who uses your preferred system? Look up a little research from Nielsen. Your main market is 3-11 and 24-34 females. You have the largest 50+ market. Incidentally, Wii is also the least used console, bringing truth to the "dust-gatherer" moniker. Whatever, boys, nobody is telling you not to have fun. You're just wrong about why games do and don't sell on your systems. Have a good evening.

Nielsentracks system use not gameplay or system ownership ... Using your PS3 as a Blu-Ray player or your XBox 360 to stream videos from your computer is seen as being the same as playing a videogame on the Wii. Beyond that, no one doubts that the Wii is the system that gets the broadest use in a household; and that while a Mom or Sister may never use the HD console to play games, they're very likely to play a Wii game.

The question I will ask you ... as a gamer with a Wii system in your house, would you buy a high quality Wii game in a genre you are interested in if a third party publisher released it? How can there be over 60 Million Wii systems in houses that have no core gamers in them?

The facts are on my side, mostly because you probably don't understand the one dimensional nature of the "stats" listed on Kotaku and how interpretation has changed in 2 years. Irrelevant trying to make the point I guess. This one didn't listen to a word I said; so, think what you will. I bid your silly fanboyism and intense fear of whatever a "core gamer" is, adieu.

I don't think you are ready yet to go anywhere.

I'm not sure where you've come from, but you've obviously made your presence felt. All you've said so far is the stereotypical notion of what allWii owners are; mentally challenged idiots who would drown in their own drool if it wasn't for their matress padded rooms and their Wii console collecting the liquid along with the dust.

I know you got something more than that, any old poster can drop a line from the Wii Bingo board.

Look at it another way ...

If you’re a gamer and not a blind fanboy odds are pretty good that you would buy a game for a system that is in your home if it is high enough quality and interesting to you. Even if you’re not interested in anything that is currently available for the system, you rarely play it, and the only person in the house that plays the system is your wife/girlfriend or sister/mother, if you’re a gamer you will play games that interest you that are on a system you own.

Now, with 60+ Million Wii systems sold the Wii is in the household of a lot of dedicated gamers and if a game came out and was high enough quality it would easily sell Millions of copies. This is one of the reasons why high quality Nintendo games sell so well. Odds are pretty good that a gamer would be interested in a high quality Mario game, and since they already own a Wii there is no reason not to buy it.

Multi-platform games (like Call of Duty and Starwars the Force Unleashed) have even sold more than a million copies based on the size of the market of people who only own a Wii or would prefer to play these games on the Wii. If there was a third party Core Wii game in an established franchise and genre that was as high of quality as a Mario Galaxy odds are pretty good that it would be a multi-million selling title; because it would attract attention from both people who only own a Wii and are interested in those titles, as well as core-gamers who own a Wii and other systems.

I don't see how anyone could call themself a gamer and claim they wouldn't play a quality game on a system that was avaialble in their house.

Can anyone tell me when the last time a western development studio which is well known or at least known of by the community here produced a Wii exclusive title that flopped? I can't really think of any which come to mind immediately. If it hasn't happened then how do we know that it won't work? The top talent assigned to the Wii has effectively been Nintendo and they have reaped the reward and yet I cannot for the life of me remember a single western studio doing likewise.

Cursed Mountain maybe? However, that game would've bombed anywhere, even DS....

Dead Space Extraction?I honestly can't think of any-

Deadly Creatures.

Now I have nothing else.

Some of the logic is these posts is astonishingly stupid. You people are really, I mean really, just something to behold. It's stunning really.

Do you people really have any idea about the demographics and purchase patterns of Wii owners? Your bulk of users are ages 3-17 and you have the largest constituency of users age 50 and older. The 18-35 crowd lives on the 360 and PS3. They are the ones who, generally speaking, buy the games drawing your complaints. They just don't exist on your console. You Wii gamers -and you are hardcore gamers for the most part- are the minority of Wii owners. You are swamped in your system by 7 year olds and middle agers who think Wii Fit is a video game.

You people represent the EXACT same business model as Nintendo's last two generations. Take away the gimmicks and Wii-cercise garbage and you have the same system as N64 and Gamecube only staying in the game because we all want Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. Yes, we all know Brawl is fun, so is Mario Kart. Still, you don't have the demographics. READ YOUR SYSTEM'S CURRENT AND UPCOMING RELEASES and you can see who the games are being made for!!!!!! The mature titles are the rare outliers!!!!! Here is your market for Wii:

Pony Friends 2- it only sold 5,000 according to vgchartz, it flopped
Step to the Beat- couldn't find it
Sponge Bob's Boating Bash- sold 7k in 3 weeks, it flopped
Build A Bear Workshop- no information.
Dance Sensation- no information.
Fix it Home Improvement Challenge- no.... information.
Diva Girls: Diva Ballerina- doesn't show up in database.
Playmobil Circus- sold 20,000 in 20 weeks, it flopped
And if you aren't too lazy you know that I could go ON and ON with Ponies, Rainbows, Hunting Simulators and Step Aerobics.

EDIT: Please don't take this as an insult to Wii-playage or ownage.  I think Wii has a lot of great stuff.  Unforunately the vast vast bulk of it is the exact 5 or so core titles we see every iteration.  The Wii gamer market isn't special or different.  You are just playing sharing a console's fate with an expanded market of people who would have never have bought a system before.  Let's get anecdotal: I know 7 households with Wii, 2 are over 50 couples, and 2 are my grad student friends who happen to be female and they (both) own NSMBWii, Wii Sports, and Guitar Hero, and that's it.  All of these people mentioned ignore their Wii's for large periods of time.

Truth is, the wii owners do not want shovelware, and the numbers are on my side <3<3<3.

A studio which has its own brand name? You know amongst the likes of Criterion, Infinity Ward, Dice the names that roll off the tongue when you think of game studios. But since I cannot really think of one it does beg the question of 'Have they even tried?'.

I cannot think of many, maybe Codemasters and Overlord: Dark Legend. No one else has even thrown a try the Wii's way.

An Enclave port is coming though....pfft.

Funny then that 42% of PS3 and 360 owners also have a Wii.
