Forums - Sony Discussion - Alright....let's discuss HEAVY RAIN's success!

Well considering it has sold in 3 weeks what some people thought would be its LTD. I would say, yes, it will lead to more risks... which is a good thing. I'd like to see genres like this expanded on.

I can also see Sony buying QD is they make another hit like this.

OFF topic: whatever happened to your real life girl avatar? she looks pretty...

I'm very happy that this game is getting the success it deserves. Will it's success open up a new genre of gaming? Not yet.
I think if QD can muster up another game (sequel perhaps) similar to this style of play and it succeeds in the same way. Then, I do believe we'll see more HR type games.

Which is awesome.

I was happily surprised by how well HR sold, i would love to see more from QD and Sony

That is extremely impressive in a matter of 5 weeks.

To think how many people said it'll fail...not to mention it's a new IP and a genre which is out of the norm.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I must say its sales definitely surprised me. In no way was the game ever for me, but I'm glad a lot of people have picked it up and enjoyed it.

It proves when a developer, on any console, puts out a compelling, smart, and impressive game regardless of genre, console or userbase stereotypes, people will play it, people will love it and people will buy it.

Heavy Rains success just bitchslaps and dev complaining about lack of sales and says "do your job right"

i hope for HR games anually

Remember guys, discuss more than it's sales. Where do you see this type of game headed in the future and do you see developers taking risks within other genres as well?

i would love to, it might be called "Murder Mystery" even though Heavy Rain was more than that, i'd want to see more.
