Yes they were. And I was called a stupid fanboy because I was the only one who said they could pull it off.


The PS3 won't be profitable overall. That is what I said and that is what happened. The profits the division reported were mainly driven by the Vaio laptops. And of course the PSP and PS2. The PS3 itself is still not profitable. It would have been if it was $400 though. But Sony really had to do something, otherwise the PS3 would have lost more and more marketshare. Next quarter might be positive though, even for the PS3.

A $199 would mean another year of losses for the PS3. And with a $199 product you need to sell a LOT to cover a 6 billion loss that the PS3 made in the years before.



Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Not to sound fanboyish, but after $100 for the wifi adapter you are sitting at both consoles being $300 again.

And then PS3 still has Bluetooth, Built-in controller battery (for 360 I think it's like $50 for the battery pack?  Been awhile since I bought mine) and a Blu-ray player..


Casual Gamers dont care about that stuff, all they care about is the console price....So seeing one way cheaper that the other is a huge advantage

besides I never use those things on my ps3 anyways....So its just a waste

The price points for 360 is the base cost. They expect the console to be bought for kids or people who don't know any better, or who don't want/need anything more than the arcade. In every situation, 360 is the most expensive console this gen...it's just that when you first buy it, it is the cheapest.

The ~200 dollar area is impulse purchase level for buying consoles. 360 is already in it, PS3 is one foot in it. But that's a different story for a different day.

its $50!!! extra dollars a year just to do something that the ps3 does for FREE!!!

plus the cost of batteries.

plus the cost for the $100 Wi-Fi add-on that also comes free on ps3.

plus blu-ray and free internet browsing, and blue tooth.

buying a 360 is a waste of money!!!!!!!!!! in my opinion.

and all the exclusives come out on PC so if you want the exclusives just get a pc!!

There is no doubt that the 360 is the most expensive cost this gen. I switched to PS3 ever since i realized that(2 years ago). All im saying is that most people dont care that PS3 has all of this. I know some people that dont even know what wifi is. Sony also does not do a good job telling people that the PS3 has all of this. They should do an add or something showing how the 360 will end up being expensive. Whenever i go to best buy i never see a poster or anything telling you the online is free. Sony needs to do a better job of informing everyone what the PS3 can do.

Its not the most expensive if you don't care so much about those things.  Which is what it all boils down to.
