Fingers crossed for FF5 remake & Mario Platformer on launch!

oh and now we know where the pokemon 5th gen game is coming LOL

Didn't Iwata confirmed that the 5th gen was gonna be on the current DS?

maybe it is a bridge title available for both DS and 3DS?

- It will have a lot more onboard storage. 2gigs would be nice.
- memory card slot if 2gigs isnt enough for you.
- 3ds games will be both downloadable and physical media will be available in stores.
- the physical media will be mini dvds. same as the gamecube.
- making it partially (if not completely) gamecube backwards compatible.
- full on app store.
- gameboy/gamegear/neogeo pocket vc

and thats all the crazies i can think of right now.

Nope. No disc slot at all. It's pretty obviously going to be using flash memory as the storage medium, especially since it's DS/DSi backwards compatible.

The technology exists now to make those flash memory cards upwards of 128GB. Now, Nintendo won't do THAT much, but I expect they'll make it compatible with 1GB (MAYBE 2GB) from the start, and they'll upgrade through to 4GB (MAYBE 8GB) by the end of the generation.

That's what I've been saying for about a month and a half now. Think a TRUE modern Gold/Silver-type game. Gold/Silver were PLAYABLE on classic GB's, but they were OPTIMIZED for GameBoy Color usage. It'll be the same way with the 5th Gen main-games. In fact, I'm going to say that they're going to do all three main-games (the first two, then the "expansion") this way. As for remakes of Ruby/Sapphire, I don't think those will happen like the previous two generations. Doesn't seem profitable enough to me, but I could be wrong.

Eh, VB didn't use proper 3D. It used a concept much more akin to the pseudo-3D that movie theatres offer with the glasses.

However, yes, it DID offer a "3D-like experience" out of the box.

What do you mean by pseudo-3D in movie theatres? The 3D in theatres is basically as good as the one you get with a 3D TV at home, but instead of shutter glasses a light polarizer is used to direct the frames to each eye (which is cheaper in terms of the glasses, more expensive for the projection part).

All you need for 3D is the ability to send a specific image to each eye separately. There are different ways to accomplish that, but the end result should be the same in terms of depth perception.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with the majority of your post.

1. 512mb is more than enough on board memory so long as it supports SDHC. (Keep in mind you can buy a 32GB SD card now).

2. required if backwards compatible to DSi

3. Physical media will be wanted by Nintendo for 'best' experience, so you'll have a clear seperation between the two offerings similar to now on DSi and Wii.

4. NO DVDS or discs of any type. Sony already proved the fallacy with this type of system, add to that, that Nintendo essentially uses SD carts for their games and those are already MUCH larger than DVD based discs, especially the mini-discs in gamecube. Plus, for backwards compatibility they already require the same cart slot as the DS/DSi. So, it will use a similar cart style to current DS products.

5. Not gonna happen. Nintendo has no interest in full compatibility between portable/console. Otherwise you'd already see a portable VC on the Wii.

6. 100% agree with this one.

7. 100% agree with this one and this is why no portable VC on Wii, saving it for this (and DSi).

I mean that it's theorized that this will ACTUALLY use multiple screens, which will actually be a TRUE 3D - the images will ACTUALLY be different distances from the eye. Using a light polarizer to direct different frames to each eye is effectively pseudo-3D. The eye sees it like real 3D, but it's an illusion.

Wasnt there news like a week ago of a DS enlarged Cartridge?

Why would they need to enlarge the physical (assuming that's what you mean) size of the cart? The DS essentially uses an SD cart and those are already around 32GB.

This means the dev can utilize any sized cart they require to fit the game they are building. Technically as large as a Bluray if they wished. DS HD prooved!

I am no good with tech details. Just saying there was news about carts a week or two ago on here I believe. Which just proves the point they are probably sticking to carts not disc.

Honestly, I think they'll go at least 1GB, with around 256MB reserved for the OS and system settings/functions.  The reason is, they'll have enough space for at least the largest size DS game to fit into flash (which the way things are headed, will probably be 512MB)... for when they eventually resell them to you digitally. ;)

Virtual Console Express, here we come... you can also expect the "Wii3D" or whatever to also have enough memory to load a full Saturn, Dreamcast or GameCube game from it's flash (ie: 2GB+)...
