I think we should put slowmo and nightsurge in the caged circle and let them duke it out!

Do I get cookies and koolaid if I win?!

You can have anything up to and including Jell-o shots.

Mmmmmmm Jello Shots

And in the end I don't think either of us cares who is right.  I just think it makes more sense to have USB ports on the front and not one memory card slot with USB only on the back, especially considering this new development of using USB drives.

Only time will tell.  Stay thirsty, my friends!

This has so many interesting possibilities.

1. Games on demand via kiosks. You can probably fit on average 2-3 games inside that space available. So for rental or storage it doesn't matter.

2. They may be removing the option of upgrading the HDDs of the slim Arcades.

3. They will decouple the price of the Arcade from the Elite so that the price can be > or < than $100 difference between the two.

4. This is an effective price cut in a way as it makes the Arcade SKU a viable alternative for someone who wants to do light downloading, which effectively means a $100 price cut for those who just want to download games on demand etc. They'd have data on the % of people who use X % of space.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

Gimme all my space not a cap of 16 GB. Shame on MS. If I have a 250 GB Passport drive I'd like to use the whole thing.

Very interesting on the 360 hardware front. I may pickup a backup unit if/when the "slim" model comes out.  I'm still curious as to what they plan to do with the hard drive in the new model.  Internal?  upgradeable?

You might want to check the article again, they removed the inaccurate claims about the clarkdale.

Also, no PC motherboards have inputs on both the front and rear.
And @Slowmo, this is my last supporting evidence.  From the scale picture shown earlier:
I definitely agree that I've never seen motherboards where 2 USB ports are laid horizontally beside each other like that, but that could be due to the new design of the 360 and it made more sense orienting it that way.  Who knows.

Well I read it when it was first put up so no-one had proved the clarkdale info false.

If it is true a slim would be interesting.

I would buy a slim for sure.

GREAT news for people like myself that are still using 20GB Arcade HDDs.

I can simply get the update, and slap a USB drive on it for saves. Would of hoped for a higher cap, but 16GB is better than the fact that I shelled out $40 recently for a 512MB memory card.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

The nice thing about this is that you can buy an arcade for $199 and add a $100 external 1.5 TB drive and you've paid less than some of those other consoles for over 5 times the storage.

Add to it a $60 price drop for Arcade (As has happened in Canada) and you've got a really attractive home console...

Microsoft is looking smarter and smarter for not forcing the HDD and the wireless (I upgraded my 360's to N wireless)

You missed a key part of the article/post. There's a cap of 16 Gb of usable space on the USB device. By that I mean, even if you hook a 1.5Tb ext HD to the Xbox, you can only use 16 Gb of it. You can hook up 2 seperate HDs for a total of 32 Gb, but that's the max.

Maybe this is all an early April fool's joke though? Capping the usable storage space is oddly low for even MS. Maybe the cap is wrong? I'll still make use of it since I'm out of space anyways, but still.

@nightsurge & Slowmo

Have you never seen a Shuttle Mobo, with front and rear i/o ports and horizontal USB ports?

This really makes things awesome. I grew tired of the small amount of storage MS memory cards had. Now we can use existing USB flash drives and store a lot of content to go.

I'll be buying a 16 gig flash drive as soon as I know this is confirmed by MS themselves.

It's just that simple.
