Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii - 253,878 in US last week!

Wii is only going to get better (maybe not pure sales-wise) this coming year, there's a lot of great games coming out throughout 2008.

What I'm really curious about is the PS3. They have a lot of great stuff coming out in the coming year, and there's a lot of 360/PS3 dual release games. If they end up with similar prices (which they already sort of are), and a pretty equal stock of good games (which they might by next year), and PC hardware prices keep going down and more DX10 games come out (which they will), the 360's emphasis on FPS compounded with continued hardware problems may end up shooting them in the foot.

This holiday season doesn't interest me as much, as the Wii is pretty much the shoe-in for winning the holiday season, 360 will be in 2nd with a huge stock of great games in the last few months.

What will be interesting is next year, especially if a lot of these upcoming PS3 games end up being really good.  By the of 2008 we could see a huge shift from the 360 to the PS3.

I'm glad Nintendo is going to break 400k total this week. It only goes up from here.. well till Christmas.

I say Wii will top 400,000 for Thanksgiving week NA only. Close to 1,000,000 for the month of November.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

Could this be the "Galaxy" effect?

I lol at anyone surprised by these numbers. Nintendo has been planning this all year long.

They WILL have 18-20m sold by the end of the year - meaning another 4-6m sold in the next 6 weeks. That's an average of 650k-700k / week.

You had better believe it. Next week could edge 500k(!) in the US. Yes, they could EASILY ship double the number they had this week.

Its Black Friday - potentially the biggest shopping day of the year in the US.

I wonder how Wii will do over the holidays to come?

alex, Ithink this is a Galxy/Toys R US/ Black Friday effect.

Girl Gamer, I expect the Wii to have a very good January. Sadly, a lot of people will go empty handed this holiday season, so they might have some luck in January. But how about February? I can see sales getting a boost from Brawl. But then what about March?

So anyone think Wii will sell over 300k this week in the Americas.

@Biggerboat

If you were at TRU on Sunday you would know that software sales were not an issue at all, granted it was buy 2 get 1 free, but still. The amount of games I saw people leaving with was rediculous.

Reggie was just on CNBC and said Nintendo expects 17.5 million shipped and sold by March 08.

Now, if you are saying 18-20m by end of year and maybe 20-22m by March 08, that should make for lots of more money to be made off Nintendo stock!
