Hillzone 2's textures are all blurry compared to Crysis 2's. If those are not PC shots of C2 then I'd be interested to know how they can have the textures they have with the small amount of RAM that the PS3/360 has.

You have probably never seen how much ram windows uses then.

It's not 1.75 gigs, which is the difference between a PS3 and a modest gaming computer.

Streaming tech and good level design make a big difference to the texture resolutions on the consoles.

Anything that is available on consoles is available on PC... with loads more power, to boot.

Maybe if you hadn't cherry picked you would have realized that I wasn't talking at all about ram taken overall by my system, but by specific games. Actually Windows only uses about 1gig of RAM. That's not so much at all.

ROFL Im sure thats the funniest shit im going to read all day, Bravo sir.

I checked Win7 when I first saw this thread and it clocked in at a mighty 1.06 gigs with no programs running.

So there goes that dispute.

so what? the point was RAM isn't the biggest issue for the graphics on consoles these days. Texture res is limited by the texture units and the lack of processing speed needed to allot more time to the texture unit functions. Lets not forget streaming is easier done on a console. PCs have multiple OS, APIs, GPUs, CPUs, HDDs, and different amounts of different speed RAM to deal with.

No, RAM isn't the biggest issue but when your average PC outstrips these consoles in EVERY technical aspect, it's really pointless to compare the PS3 and a PC.

At this point, it's like compared Metroid: Other M to Uncharted 2. What's the point? One machine is massively overpowered compared to the other.

And I'm not the one who brought up RAM to being with...

Jeff, I've heard everything from as low as 600 megs up to 1.25 gigs memory usage with nothing else running. The point is that Win7 is one HELL of an operating system (and this is coming from a guy who primarily works under OS X at home) and isn't the memory whore that Vista (and to an extent, XP) was during its day. In 2010, 1 gig for the OS is completely acceptable considering the amount of RAM the average computer comes with.

Then again, as someone else said, RAM doesn't really matter and they're *partially* right. RAM is a great (and highspeed) overload buffer that can make or break a game. Back on topic, I think the fact that the PS3 has stupid-slow video RAM and only 256 megs of it is the real deal-breaker, not "normal" RAM. Stream all you want but when a PC game can use a gig of VIDEO RAM (plus whatever 4+ gigs that machine would probably have), it doesn't need streaming or any of those necessary features (though streaming is still available on any U3-powered game, I believe).

In short, Crysis beat the shit out of anything the PS3 or 360 will EVER produce.

Crysis 2 will make them look like a fucking ATM machine in comparison.

Sarcasm is lost during translation at times but good god, I hope you're using it right now.

EW why even compare these pieces of crap... uncharted 2 blows both of them away.... and dont get me started on God of war 3 lol.. God of war 3 looks like it belongs in the ps4 generation.

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

I really hope you're joking. On a technical level, Uncharted 2 is a Wii game compared to Crysis. Same goes for God of War. The texture and resolution comparisons aren't even in the same league.

I really suggest you take a look at Crysis on full res sometime. It's ridiculous. No console game will even come CLOSE until new hardware is released and that's Crysis 1, not the sequel.
