PS3 is currently selling 10m-12m a year at best. That means 10yr life is *required* to make it to that total AND it must never slow down until its shut off.

That has zero chance of happening. Once nextGen starts in 2012, IF PS3 was left out in the wild its sales would drop off quickly just like PS2 did. Thus its waning years won't even be close to its average years now. Thus, it won't break 70m let alone 120m given the slow decline and fact it won't last 10yrs.

I predict 65 million bye the end of it's life cycle. I don't think the ps3 is going to last 10 yrs. I think sony will have another system out way before then.

DS = 175 million
Wii = 135 million
PS3 = 55 million
Xbox 2 = 52 million

360 lifetime- 70 million
PS3 lifetime- 75 million
Wii lifetime- 105 million

In the time that the Wii has been out, it has sold an average of 20.56 million units a year. Given that it will at least approximately keep that rate going until it is replaced (according to historical precedence, of course), and the fact that it has ~2.58 years remaining UNTIL it's replaced, then we can assume it'll sell at least 53m for the remainder of its lifetime, and that's assuming Nintendo kills it off when they release its successor.

This is also assuming Nintendo replaces it after a 6 year lifetime and doesn't decide to keep it going longer.

70m + 53m = 123m.

It's GUARANTEED to surpass your 105m estimate.

Comparing PS3: Its selling faster than PS one (102m LTD) but slower than PS2 (140m+ LTD) so it should come somewhere in between but right now who knows.
