I'm having a hard time believing that the PS3 is in short supply right now.  Everywhere I go there are plenty of PS3's

Really? None of my area Wal-Marts, Targets, or Best Buys have anymore PS3's right now. My closest Target sold out of last week's Wednesday night shipment before Saturday even rolled around.

 

It seems to me that they're dropping the ball hard, you'd think they'd want to keep a lot of shelves stocked with FFXIII, Heavy Rain, and God of War III hitting back to back to back. Not having enough PS3's really hurts them since FFXIII buyers might buy 360's instead.

stock shortages for the 120gb. 250 gb is still available and makes a much better bottom line for them.

shortages doesn't mean u won't find ps3, but that its will harder to find em.

when the wii had shortages u would see piles of them infront of stores from all the time

They are coming out with a new model that weights a little less, and is probably cheaper, so i think they are holding out to sell everyone those and have a  larger profit margin maybe, otherwise they are shotting off their feet.
