Do you have some valid indications that it will not be a holiday 2010 release?

Well, the only thing saying it may be in 2010 has been teasing. There hasn't been a direct answer or date set.

For counter-evidence:

1. Nothing has been shown from the game. Not one thing. Even the picture from last year's E3 was called inaccurate by Miyamoto himself. That means that by last E3, they didn't even have the characters fully developed. Just ideas.

2. Last year at E3, 2dmario was shown and then released several months later. That was another game that was not shown in any shape or form previously. Granted, they are both high-quality games, I think Zelda is a much more production-intensive game. Additionally, it may be using several different peripherals and would be more technical, imo. If 2d Mario made it just before Xmas, I don't think Zelda will make it.

3. Zelda does not really belong to the new market or model. Therefore, Nintendo is less inclined to give it everything they've got. 2dMario fits in with the market perfectly, but Zelda...not so much. Unless something within Zelda has drastically changed...like multiplayer (god, no) then it's not a priority.

Just my own opinions and conjecture, but I don't think they are going to push it out so fast. Look at Metroid for a more accurate example of a similar game.

1 & 2) nintendo is very tight lipped. They just announced The Last Story which is also a 2010 title and will surely take a good bit of production. Not every company is horrible at keeping secrets like Sony is.

3) you have fallen under the influence of the fanboys and trolls that say Nintendo doesn't care about the "core". This has been proven wrong repeatedly. How a team dedicated to soley to Zelda is influenced by another dev team that is focusing on Wii game x is beyond me.

but zelda hasn't even been officially announced, right?

And I'm not easily influenced. IMO I saw the Zelda teaser art as a response to the "core" saying, "hang in there".

How is this even being debated.  Iwata himself said it was being released in 2010 - http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=6422

I'll believe it when I see hear it at e3.

So Iwata is no longer a credible source on Nintendo.  News to me.  Whatever, I'ma call you out when it's time to eat some crow.

I'll do more than that.

theprof,

Since late 2007 Nintendo has had a (fairly) consistent strategy not to release any significant details about games until they’re within months of being released; and with the success they have received from most of their franchises that have used this strategy it is unlikely to change. Even though we have limited details of games like Super Mario Galaxy 2, and haven’t seen The Legend of Zelda, it doesn’t mean that Nintendo won’t release these games in 2010.

I understand that. It's just that something feels different. I'd be inclined to agree if there was something, anything. But right now, it's just what iwata said in a newspaper. Not even the financial projection mentions it. It only says "zelda will be at e3".

Even Miyamoto seems unsure about exactly what the Zelda game will consist of. He mentions some changes and new ways to control stuff and hinted at M+, but even then it sounded like they were still testing out a bunch of ideas. Even the concept art is wrong. No pictures, no nothing. In fact, the only big game that even remotely resembles the 2010 prediction of e3->release, was nsmbwii, and I don't believe the scope is the same. I think Zelda is far more complex than that.

Like I said, it's just my opinion, but Nintendo has repeatedly stated that it is better to delay than rush it out and it seems like they're a little bit further behind than they're making it out to be. Of course, they're not making it out to be anything, they can rely on saying something rather vague and it being taken for good news. That is all.

I hope it does come out and proves me wrong, but right now I can't shake the feeling that it's not going to make it.

Prof, WM+ is 100% confirmed as required, Iwata has confirmed it for 2010 and the secrecy plays right into their current strategy of information dissemination.

All Shiggy said about the art piece was don't read too much into it. He didn't say the art itself was wrong.

I'm pretty sure he said the female character was not accurate at all. That it was just a rough mockup

Did she just call Metroid a shooting game?

Cammie is a notorious video game noob. She doesn't really know anything about the games she sells.

Prof, baby, please we all know you, we read your comments in threads, we know you're not that informed when it comes to Wii stuff... I'm pretty sure the comment you're talking about is the one where he stated the theories with the girl being your sword was wrong, at least thats the only comment I can think up even fits in with what you're claiming.

Anyway Miyamoto has said since E3 2009 that it should be out in 2010, thats the reason he didn't want his team to make a demo for the 2009 E3, that would have taken time away from development, hell the game has been in production since 2006... if everyone from the head developer to the president of the company says 2010, I'd be inclined to believe them...

And yeah... Motion Plus was hinted at E3 2008 by Miyamoto after the product was shown off... 2009 he and everyone else pretty much confirmed it...

This is probably just a discussion you should either actually read the news/interviews or just not say anything

One thing that upsets me though is that she keeps on telling everyone that this is Wii's 5th year, when the Wii is less than 3 and a half years old.

Do you know how to count right ? Nov 2006 - Nov 2007- Nov2008-Nov 2009 - Wii's 5th year has started on Nov26th .
