500,000 copies sold isn't bad for an original game like this.

I'd say its pretty damn amazing

Tretton is right... over 500k week one is amazing.

He said "it's rare that you see a game that sells incredibly well and that impresses you". But a 500k start isn't so rare. We see a start like that every few weeks.

Lol... no we dont. Only things that launch that high are sequels and 4th quarter launches.

If by 'incredibly well' they mean '1.5-2 million', then yes, it will sell 'incredibly well'.

Note: I do think 1.5-2 million is great sales for a game.  But what most people think are 'incredible' sales now adays is 5+ million.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Nobody said anything about sequels or new IP's. Within the last few weeks we've had Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2 and Dantés Inferno launch roughly as high or higher.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Only one of those needed to be combined to compare..... Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 both launched higher on a single platform.

Are you saying that those games, which released within the last few weeks, did not sell as much or more than Heavy Rain on a single platform?

No. I'm saying you are completely spinging, twisting, and bending this to fit your arguement.

You're proving his point if anything. Both had critically acclaimed predecessors and both predecessors went on to sell well. Games don't usually receives sales like 500,000 unless it is in a holiday, it's a sequel to a proven franchise or, as in HEAVY RAIN's case they turn into a sleeper hit (Batman: Arkham Asylum).

Did Tretton say anything about that, though? I'm not saying Heavy Rain's sales aren't remarkable, it's just people acting like Tretton was totally right and everyone who doubted him should be eating crow, can only back it up by pretending that Tretton said something different to what he said.
