Well, the question is that will it be "open source" or not cause if it is open source, then way more developers can get their hands on it as opposed to not! But it is MS so I would think there is going to be a licensing fee but at the sametime, MS has surprised me before (windows 10 free upgrade zomfg)

Being that it's a Windows 10 device, I don't think Microsoft will prevent someone from creating unique experiences for it. 

They may not allow it through the Windows App store, but I'm sure it'll happen.

Considering it'll support games on itself, and Windows 10 to Xbox One and Xbox One to Windows 10 streaming are in the works, I'm guessing that both Windows 10 and Xbox One games will be supported.

Obvious or not, it would appear that there will be three options for gaming that Microsoft is working on:

* Playing games natively on HoloLens
* Streaming a game to HoloLens from any Windows 10 device or Xbox One.  Thus the HoloLens acts as the primary display.
* Using HoloLens as a peripheral to display aspects of the display output such as the HUD, as well as any AR visualizations.

This seemed incredibly obvious. it'll be xbox only.

Lolll no waii! I need my ultimate porn experience and if this works the way they say it works, MS (with the help of some other companies) will deliver just that! Between VR and this, I would rather choose this cause the glasses aren't so bulky and it looks soo much less of a hassle to wear and etc. Like, I am really hoping that MS can make this work cause I will certainly buy this day 1

I'm thinking, for you Jizz Beard, maybe while wearing those they should have some kind of porn block.  Like cloth people who are naked, or maybe black boxes, or whipped cream over breasts and genitalia.

Something I mentioned in another thread, was that not only would there be games on HoloLens, but you'd be able to stream games from an Xbox One or from any Windows 10 device.

Phil Spenser confirmed this is the case.  Microsoft has Xbox One to HoloLens streaming on their roadmap. 

What this needs is a "Summer Lesson" equivalent and it would be an epic system seller cause it allows you to interact with the AR! God, I can already imagine groping them breasts! Just imagine buying a pair of those plastic tits + having AR = fap! Please do it MS! Or at least let other developers do it for PC

When Microsoft demoed it to the press earlier this week, they showed a Minecraft like game. HoloLens intelligently maps the room you’re in, blending holograms with the environment around you and you can interact with holograms and everyday objects together.

Speaking about HoloLens in an interview to Engadget, Xbox chief Phil Spencer said that Microsoft is thinking about bringing games to HoloLens.  “It’s very cool. To me there’s not a successful consumer electronics device on the planet where gaming is not a primary form of app category on the thing,” Spencer said. HoloLens can function independently, no cords, no phones, no wires, no tethers. So, developers can write games for HoloLens platform.

The other possibility is streaming. Is is possible to stream Xbox One games to HoloLens and use it as a display? Spencer said that it is “clearly on the roadmap.”

“I think gaming will be important. Specific scenarios with the Xbox, we’re thinking hard about. People could ask about streaming solutions. Could I use it as a display for my Xbox? We don’t have answers to any of those things, but know it’s all part of the same organization.”

 

Apart from the game streaming scenario where it could act as display, there are more interesting possibilities. HoloLens could aim to offer a companion experience. Imagine you are playing some game on your TV, HoloLens could project Holograms associated with the game in the room to amplify the environment. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft will make use of this technology in the coming months.
