Hey, I noticed that you had some older games in your collection. I’m working on creating a top 100 retro franchises list, and trying to get people to vote for their top 10. If you have a few minutes to vote I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hey, long time no see. :)Back when I used to come more often, this site used to have a wonderful chart with the sales totals of every major console after the Ataris like the NES, Megadrive etc. It used to be fun to watch the current gen consoles go past milestones like the Dreamcast and Gamecube while still going strong, and even though it hadn't been updated in over a year the last time I saw...
Oh yeah, I actually had something almost VGC related to report! I was shopping for something to eat in the middle of the night and ran into some Monster Hunter 3 noodles! The advertising campaign must be pretty big, as I found this product from the convenience store near my dorm at the campus...

About Me: My history as a gamer, and how I ended up on VG Chartz:
I started gaming on a really old PC even before I started school. It had Falcon, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, Pac-Man, and a bunch of other ancient games like that.
My first console was the NES, which I got from my uncle, played a lot, and ended up selling between the ages of 7 and 13. Can't remember too well anymore.
I wanted a SNES around the time Donkey Kong Country came out, but my parents got me a PC, and I spent the following ten years as a PC gamer. My brother had a PS and a PS2 that I played the Metal Gear Solid games and a few others on, but otherwise I completely ignored consoles.
All that changed when I encountered Super Smash Bros. Melee at an anime club's all-nighter during November or December 2005. I was addicted within a few hours, and absolutely had to get more! Very soon I had bought a used Gamecube, a few controllers, a memory card, and most importantly my beloved Melee for dirt cheap, and couldn't get enough of it.
I started educating myself on the console scene, and realised (to my great delight actually) that the Gamecube was dead, and its many awesome games were available at very low cost. I spent most of 2006 playing the classics of the Gamecube, started following the very promising news about this new console called Revolution that Nintendo was working on, and developed quite a liking for the company.
I managed to make my parents take pity on their poor student son, and buy me a Wii for Yule 2006. I've later obtained an Xbox, PS2, PS, and Gameboy at very agreeable prices. The 360 and PS3 both have some games that interest me, but so far nowhere near enough to make me one to buy one, especially since I don't have a HDTV.
I started getting very interested in the "console war" when the Wii started doing surprisingly good, and ended up on this site pretty soon after it launched. I normally try not to listen to anything on that site, but I think it was a kind Anonymous on 4chan's /v/ that recommended this place to me first. I also try to avoid huge cliches, but you could say the rest is history.
After a few years of having a computer that was too old to run anything even halfway new, and playing mostly consoles, I recently bought a pretty decent laptop. I've been playing all the great (now budget priced) games I missed during the years lately, and rediscovering my PC gamer roots. Good to be back. ^^
